I’ll be honest, I actually have no idea why or when exactly using that expression became racist, it used to just be a general part of vocabulary until for whatever reason everyone decided we’d start using different words. Now we say “people of color” instead, or just say “black” outright (though sometimes people get uncomfortable and will say “African-American.”). What’s the difference really? This is more an opportunity to make fun of someone for talking like they just stepped out of 1965 than it is actual racism.

The cited Las Vegas Review Journal article/blog is actually a hoot- worth a read.

Michele Fiore, despite knowing that cancer can be flushed out of the body, actually was not too far off on her description, despite her lack of proper PC. The black legislator in question, Harvey Munford (D), has included this in his official bio: “first black man to attend and graduate from Montana State University at Billings”. Munford is also considering switching to the Republican side, for he feels dissed by the Dems. “And in the last session, I didn’t even get a token position. Nothing. They just ignored me.”

Jesus H…that second one is beyond beleif and if she did or does propose such a bill, she should be brought up on ethics charges becaus she’s clearly only bringing the bill to help her company. What a ridiculous, horrible person she is.

She was removed from being the Assembly Majority Leader for having tax liens over $1 million. She was also removed from being on - wait for it - the Taxation Committee.

Yep, and I have long believed that people under a certain age who say “colored” are used to saying “nigger”, and are reaching for the proper term when they throw out “colored”. Their internal dialogue is, “Oh, shit, can’t say ‘nigger’, gotta say something. What’s the word these days? What are they calling themselves? Colored! Yeah, that’s right. That’ll work.”

We can make a guess what her internal dialogue is but her external dialogue suffices—she’s arguing for voter ID laws. That’s the whole story right there, I don’t think we need to know much more.
