Discussion: Report: Manchin Seems To Be Leaning Yes On Kavanaugh

It has always been a good old boys club and the ladies have learned to play at it too, let’s see how the Dem women vote and go from there.

I’m about as cynical as it gets about both Collins and Manchin, but this is not going to happen.

“Per Politico, while Manchin does not want the spotlight that would accompany being the 50th vote to put Kavanaugh over the line, he would not mind being a “yes” vote after that.”

There are many reasons I am grateful I don’t live in WV. Joe Manchin is one of them.

It’s Politico, and therefore its as likely that Manchin has decided to vote no.

I wish Chuck Schumer would tell Manchin that he needs to be the first Democrat to step up and cast his vote- no waiting to see which way the wind blows. Then we’ll see what he is made of.

Because he believes in Social Security, Medicare, Obamacare, the minimum wage, fair labor standards etc.

I think he’s still under the illusion that the Supreme Court is only about abortion and guns.

Also, given the recent polling in West Virginia showing that Manchin has a substantial lead in his senate race, there is no need for him to vote “yes” on Kavanaugh. He has more freedom than many Dems in red states to vote “no”, and yet …

If he votes “yes”, I’ll guess we’ll see what “voting his conscience” really means.

His daughter’s an unscrupulous crook too. The Manchin family. Helter Skelter.

He’s already proven that he has no conscience … what’s one more demonstration?

Any senator who votes for Kavanaugh has no soul and has abandoned what it means to be an American

If the Senate passes the new tax cut package the House has just passed ($3.2 trillion over 10yrs) we can kiss Medicare and Social Security g’bye. It will mean Both my wife (62) and myself (close to 70) will have to work. Now, who would hire a 70 yr old grey beard? I’ve been retired since 2012, partly for medical reasons, and I don’t wanna flip burgers.

DNC should make it clear he needs to find another party and will cut off any $$ or resources if he votes yes. Fuck him and the white trash yayhoos he’s playing to. Let him explain why their medical care evaporated.

Oh God. What a moron this guy is.

“Manchin is well up in recent polls, which likely gives him more leeway to vote his conscience than his Democratic peers who’ve found themselves in closer races and have to act with more political calculation.”

So, this means his conscience is to support this rapist?

Oh, c’mon, who doesn’t like rape? I mean really, among white men, just how many really object to it? And the opinions of white men are all that really matter, so everyone needs to get a grip.

Thank God he’s a “Real” Democrat!

Don’t do it Senator - this will be the Iraq War vote of this generation!!!

It’s a Politico article. Take it with a grain of salt.

It’s political calculus. If none of the R’s flip it’s a done deal, and he (and some others) may as well vote yes to try and save themselves.

It’s mostly a done deal, I fear. We lost the court when we lost the presidency. This horrible man will now sit with Thomas as a 40 year blight on our nation.

Preserve the few senators we can.
