Discussion: Report: Journalists ‘Seething’ After Trump Ditches Press For Mexico Trip

Does El Aprendiz air in Mexico?

And that is why people who blog on current political happenings, that aren’t part of the official mainstream corporate newsrooms, have managed to fill the void. They’re usually a lot more nimble and ready to take on the task at a moments notice.

I heard on a podcast this a.m. that even the Secret Service is pissed about this sudden trip…with not a lot of time to prepare. But does Debacle Don care about that as a consideration? Nahhhh.

Well, Foreign press (BBC, Guardian etc) and Mexican press will be there.

And aren’t they especially brutal? While he may think he’s being slick by ditching the American press, he may have basically ditched a roomful of playful but annoying kittens and walked straight into the lion’s den.

ETA: I swear, I did NOT see the picture in the post above mine before I posted.

Likely only reporters will get mad about this, but everyone should.

Why should we? This is inside-baseball stuff about the travel arrangements of reporters covering a campaign. In order to get mad about it, first we’d have to know how those arrangements normally work - which hardly anyone does, or has reason to. And the coverage of this incident - written by REPORTERS, of course - won’t explain it, either.

And once we knew that, we’d have a bunch of questions about why that’s the way it works, and why it should be important to the rest of us that it works that way, and how what happened with the Mexico trip was different, exactly, and so forth.

Really, if reporters feel the rest of us need to care about this, they’re in the ideal position to explain to the rest of us why it matters, but they apparently suck at their job, because none of that is coming through.

Of course, without witnesses Trump can spin it anyway he pleases.

By pulling this stunt at the last minute, he actually puts the Secret Service detail at greater risk of potential harm or death. These types of events can take weeks to properly plan, scope out routes, buildings, the people who will be in the vicinity, etc. – but HO couldn’t care less about them. For their sake, I hope things go as smoothly as possible. Seriously, though, if I were them, I’d have nixed this trip based on the time element.

Some people are saying, and I read it somewhere that Donnie is going to make Mexico rebuild the Alamo, as a comp, when they come to build his border wall.

Isn’t trumpet going for the burritos? Never mind.

But the press will continue to cover him 24/7. I turned my tv off because all the channels are trump tv.

I rather follow the Bubonic Plague around the country than this nut case.

His Secret Service detail will certainly be scrambling. Normally an overseas trip like this would include a tremendous amount of advance planning.

You’ll know the conversation is off to a bad start when Drumpf says:

Hey, Peña, just show me that cute little mouse you have running around here. He’s Speedy, he’s yuge…

I cannot tell if you are very skilled at sarcasm, or just stupid. I’ve decided to call it charming.

Exactly…which includes scoping out the area, placing agents in key locations, doing necessary threat assessment in advance of any trip…sometimes by days or even weeks.

Something is happening here, and it is way beyond the ditching of the press corps. Someone here just noted that there would be something happening in Mexico that would be irregular and Trump did not want a press corps there who could immediately report on it. The timing of this trip is all wrong, especially given Trump’s scheduled appearance in Phoenix tonight. Trying to label Mexicans as killers and rapists is something he has been doing for over a year, so why go there now just before a speech where he is supposed to reiterate all of his heinous plans again? No something is wrong here.

Trump is the master of staged events and he has been touting the danger Mexicans present here in the US for over a year now. Considering he thinks he is above the law in all matters, one has to wonder what actor has been hired to try to attack the candidate or act as a double for the candidate. He seems to be totally oblivious to the kinds of repercussions a political stunt would cause. It is like something out of a movie where everyone sees an assassination, only it turns out when investigated that it was a double who had been killed and the actual mastermind behind it was the intended target. In the kind of fantasy world where a Donald Trump was President, such a stunt on a campaign trail in a foreign nation would seem entirely doable. The hitch is having no one, especially the press, aware of what is happening and not being actually present when the event goes down. IN the movie it was the Secret Service agent, I think, who figured it all out in the end, but a media savvy person who has been with Trump for months would see right through such a campaign stunt. This is just the kind of political BS someone like Bannon would come up with, and it smacks of old political thrillers more than reality today.

I hope I am wrong and we have not sent such a monster to Mexico, because if not, the fallout is going to be tremendous (I just could not say “huge” without gagging!) and violent for anyone who is of Hispanic or Muslim descent in this nation before the truth could be revealed. Let us hope that this madman just insults a few people and then heads to Phoenix where he will talk to his usual Neo-Nazi acolytes and all white suburban audiences.
