I’m not surprised TPM shoved their comments off into a forum instead of using a open platform like Disqus because they’ve become contemptuous of the public voice like the Gaming Press. The people are being marginalized because those who run these sites want to tell people what to think not engage in a conversation with the public. #GamerGate is well aware of the poor behavior and attitudes of those in the press. Our progressive press has grown out of touch and arrogant. They don’t do dissent. They don’t do people thinking for themselves. They are about control.
We need to turn this ship around and not believe some ridiculous lie like tens of thousands of diverse people, men and women rose up to hate women in gaming. Those lies are about people with privilege trying to protect it and those people are the journalists who want to control the dialogue. You can’t have real social justice when those who lead the conversation are all about marginalizing those who have different views on how it should be approached. We need to demand democracy in the progressive press or it will cease to be progressive.
FYI: If you got a tweet you didn’t like it doesn’t make you a victim of oppression. We are dealing with black men being gunned down and the petty victim games we see being played by those elites in media circles are pathetic.
