I don’t disagree with either of you and nothing specific comes to mind that is even close to the nonsense cited, but I’m sure there has been plenty of “support” when needed by Dems as well.
But, no, nothing so egregious. The tendency of Dems to at least consider how things will affect others, even those they don’t directly represent, tends to reduce at least some of the BS. While today’s R’s seem to only care about their donors and themselves. Nixon was a crook, but Congress did it’s duty. Today we see the culmination of policies that “St. Ronnie” put in motion.

I agree that tribes circle the wagons when under attack. Dems did it with Bill wrt to Lewinsky (and I’m mostly in agreement since that was a political attack).
My point is that Rs have a history (no rogues interns) of being willing to go way behind the law to win e.g. whatever it takes is ok, as long as you win.
There is no equivalency between the two parties in this regard.
