But all the new state department will be interested in is getting and selling oil. Don’t worry, they’ll be okay. but the democracy won’t.

Unfortunately, they put plenty of loopholes in the freeze EO. They can hire all the politicals they want, and civil servants involved in homeland security and public safety. Putting politicals in these newly opened state dept leadership jobs would be a disaster.

I guess we can call Tillerson “Valdez”

Retired USDA Foreign Agricultural senior staffer here: I am sure it will come as a considerable surprise if not a shock to both Secretary Designate Tillerson, EXXON’s pre-bribed multi-million dollar man. Undoubtedly, since he sells himeself to the highest bidder (EXXON and possibly Vladimir Putin) he thinks everyone cares only for money.

Likely it will be a bigger shock for President Trump, who may well start screaming about how these people are unreliable, mostly because they are Democrats. They are not: they are career, federal civil servants, each of whom could (and like will soon) make at least twice as much money on the outside as they do as a Federal Employee. They will leave behind their friends and coworkers, but they’ll also leave behind mountains of soul crushing heartburn, and those pesky financial disclosure forms, like the ones that the President and most of his other nominees could not be bothered to submit. Tillerson apparently has submitted his paperwork.

The shock for each may well be that there are people, including most of the career civil service, to whom there are things more important than money. Like the good of the country. The Constitution. And last but not least, their own good names.

If you expect McCain to do anything rational I wouldn’t hold your breath. Graham has surprised me but I wouldn’t depend on him either. They both cave at the end to the Donald.

We’ll replace them with a career oil man, a career banker, a hedge fund manager and a lawyer who represents industrial polluters.

Congress will nod, and the train wreck of the new administration will continue.

I think is is “teh stoopid” that is a more direct threat.

Perhaps “Dumb Shelters”

How’s that ‘Draining the Swamp’ thing going? Getting rid of those do-nothing career non-partisan dedicated staff that have served multiple presidents, and replacing them with unqualified party hacks, clueless wealthy gadflies, and serial grifters seemed like a such a good plan. What could go wrong?

Trump Administration is seriously hobbling his administration and embarrassing our country and that’s not the the change people voted for.
