Discussion: Report: Entire State Department Management Team Abruptly Steps Down

Exactly they purged themselves. They don’t want to have anything to do with this administration.

If confirmed, President Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, will begin his term without the assistance of career civil servants who can help him navigate the inner workings of the agency. Tillerson, the former CEO of ExxonMobil, has no experience working in government. He was approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on party lines.

Brain drain leaves Exxon Boy Wonder a boat with no rudder.

Hey, proposing Tillerson wasn’t good for the country. But that presupposes that you mean by country the United States of America and not Russia

BRAVO!!

Again, this is NOT a purge. This is a mass resignation. They don’t want to work there. If they were fired all at once, yes, perhaps it would be a purge.

Sad thing is, with that man in the White House, I no longer have to use a dictionary to spell it.

They’re all just groveling.

Let’s just call the Trump administration the Costa Concordia. It’s marooned itself on a reef about 20 yards from shore and it is stuck.

If i still worked for the Feds i would of started job hunting the day after he won. I would not be surprised if a lot of people did that and with his across the board hiring freeze thats a lot of spots left open.

I wondered about the cognitive dissonance when Trump promised to hire thousands of ICE officials and border agents yesterday - after declaring a hiring freeze the day before. No one in the media pointed out the discrepancy either (or maybe I have the categories of hires mixed up).

I think foreign adversaries can merely depend on an implosion to do their work for them. No need to attack.

Here’s the thing: were their resignations requested/demanded, or submitted at will? Either way, it’s terrible, but they’re different varieties of terrible.

Well now, that’s what you get for calling people stupid or overpaid or ask them to ‘out’ their employees or any of the various tactics that the transition team pulled on them and they are now being asked to support as ‘normal’. I’m sorry because we were all hoping the career diplomats would ‘save the day’ and although I’m sure the new SoS will bring in a team it will forever change how we go about diplomacy. I feel for this country.

“…on the horizon” usually means in the future.

As these resignations are now in the past (or arguably, Present) this would not be what duke is referring to.

Self-deportation.

I hope McCain and Graham feel this one a little bit, because it’s on them.
