Discussion: Report: Despite Efforts To Overcome 'Sin Of Recusal,' Sessions Still In Doghouse

Slightly OT but a fascinating look into what the genius does in a courtroom under oath.

I canā€™t understand why the governor of Missouri is in so much trouble due to a sex scandal when every Republican is sucking Donald Trumpā€™s dick in public 24 hours a day. Of course, Donald probably has his blackmail pics, too. Right, Lindsey?

It has been my contention that Sessions is cooperating with the Mueller probe. I think getting sucked into the Comey firing (something he should not have allowed himself to do) was the last straw, especially after Trump effectively outed both him and Rosenstein in the Lester Holt interview when he admitted he fired Comey because of the Russia investigation. Wolff describes Rosensteinā€™s act of appointing Mueller as revenge for Trump putting him in a bad spot. I think it applies to a certain extent to Sessions as well.

In Sessionsā€™ case, he has to compete with Fox News and Infowars and other media sources Trump relies on every day. Those right wing sources are increasingly unhinged and give Trump direction about what to focus on. The con media leads Trump, not the other way around. Sessions is competing with that and comes up with this list of stuff: from attacking legal marijuana, to eliminating controls/restrictions on police, to the drug war, to sentencing, to offshore drillingā€¦you name it. Heā€™s throwing things in Trumpā€™s face that will get covered in Conservative media to calm him down while he keeps his job and Mueller and Rosenstein keep theirs.

Think of it as a bizarre dystopic love triangleā€¦(cue the New Order music).

So youā€™re saying the Confederate House Elf is a sneaky little shit, huh? hahahahahaha Yeah I would expect that from Sessions.

ā€œHeā€™s done a fine job. Does it wash away the sin of recusal? I donā€™t think so.ā€

Maybe they should try an exorcism.

Rā€™s just love the taste of Recusal-Lite. Less attention getting and makes documents virtually disappear.

Heā€™s not in any dog-house! Heā€™s in the 'possum-house!

OK. Enough with the comparisons of Sessions to the Keebler Elves. Keebler chocolate chip cookies are a fine product, and the elves are cool. On the other hand, can you imagine sessions, with the white sheets and hood that constitutes his chefā€™s attire, trying to make chocolate chip cookies.

I felt the same way after reading the Dossier Testimony transcript (after page 143).

Hah. And then thereā€™s this:

Sessions thinks all these evil, horrific things heā€™s doing will please tRump and get him back in his good graces again. This is how sick these people are who are heading all these agencies. The damage theyā€™re doing is immeasurable, and dangerous for public health, safety and quality of life in this country.

Both Trump and Sessions are evil, horrible people, however, news flash! Sessions recused himself because he legally HAD TO. Itā€™s not always about you and your interests, Donnie, sorry to inform you that this is still a nation of laws. Just because you donā€™t think you have to follow them doesnā€™t mean itā€™s true. Hopefully, Director Mueller will soon disabuse this man of the notion that he is above the law.

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, White House counsel Don McGahn and former staffers Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus have also pitched in on Sessionsā€™ campaign to re-ingratiate himself with Trump, according to the report, and the Department of Justice has also begun to examine subjects that Trump has publicly touted as possible matters of interest.

Ah, the strongest sign yet that weā€™re heading for autocracy: the top official of a major government organization is setting policy for the organization based on the supreme leaderā€™s whims and fancies and is doing so to remain in (or regrain) the supreme leaderā€™s good grace. Because nothing could be worse than running afoul of the boss.

ā€œHeā€™s one of the most active Cabinet secretaries there is,ā€ one unnamed White House official told the Washington Post. ā€œHeā€™s done a fine job. Does it wash away the sin of recusal? I donā€™t think so."

And this is where Trump gets this idea of being a ā€œstable geniusā€, its like a damn cult. And yeah, the difference between cult leaders and authoritarians is just numbers.

No worries, mate - Dianne Feinstein will simply have to release a copy of the private transcriptā€¦ :smirk:

Donald is all about making Donald look good and protecting him. Anything less is unforgivable.

Interesting. It would explain why he remains in the job despite the humiliation and denies Trump the opportunity to hire a compliant AG who doesnā€™t have to recuse himselfā€¦

But he might have staying power because heā€™s a #EvilKeeblerElf and wants to see his agenda fulfilled.

Neither is exclusive.

From your link:

Research into these two diseases is about as risky as one could imagine, since no treatment thus far has been shown to have any promise in curing either disease or averting its onset; some drugs may delay symptoms for up to a year or temporarily alleviate symptoms, but patient advocates consider those to be modest advances at best.

Sounds like we need to raise taxes on the pharm corps and put the money into academic research until we understand the diseases enough that the for-profit corporations can create a commercial product.

And Sessions doesnā€™t understand how it works under Trumpp.

Great sycophancy: Appear on a TV news show to praise Trumppā€™s accomplishments (using only superlatives) and viciously attack Trumppā€™s critics

Good sycophancy: Praise Trumppā€™s actions (using only superlatives) in his presence.

Okay sycophancy: Express gratitude for the privilege of being in Trumppā€™s presence.

Pitiful sycophancy: Work like a dog for Trumpp, look miserable when your master doesnā€™t say ā€œgood boy,ā€ and then work even harder for him.
