This is why I think, despite Don McGahnâs obvious complete willingness to subvert rules of evidence, investigation, and law, theyâre not going to be able to keep the lid on. Does he think @FBI wonât follow up on leads?
Donât they have to interview the other witnesses? Isnât that how investigations happen?"
It was obvious that Trump in the Republicans would shift the battle to the investigation where they have the upper hand. the media has to do their job and make sure that all leads are followed even if it takes longer.
Apart from that Iâm okay with not investigating the oven Audi client claims. but they should find out more about Kavanaugh drinking habits at that time not because it impacts his fitness for the Supreme Court but to weigh the credibility of his denials.
I would think they would interview the witnesses, but If not the report should list them and that report would be given to all 100 Senators if I am not mistaken. Then someone will have to explain why not.
matt_shuham from the other article does not think it is all daisies and rainbows as to FBI independence upon a Presidential ask. Outrage by the public could change that?
The bottom line from what Iâve seen is that the White House, as the âclient,â can control the ask. That is to say, these limits are more a political problem than a problem of potential obstruction of justice or anything else, as far as I can tell. Thatâs been the case for all of Kavanaughâs nomination, though. Questions of perjury aside, swing Republicans will ask themselves, How bad will this look? The WH limiting an already-limited one-week investigation looks bad.
Not if they are instructed not to. Itâs not a criminal investigation, itâs a background check being done at the direction and for the White House.
When witnesses with lawyers and critical info donât get interviewed, much noise will be made. Affidavits made public will follow. Any deliberate coverup will be exposed. Brett will drink more beer. Somebody will get punched. The SC will get another woman soon after.
Donald Trump lies all the time about everything.
I doubt more witnesses are in either the precedentâs or the senate majorityâs playbook: the closer folks look at this, the more evidence of perjury, the candidateâs unsuitability for the court and the reactionary congress critterâs bad faith and poor judgment emerges.
The one thing they donât want is a preponderance of the evidence.
Iâm betting they try to call it a day after following up with some witnesses cited in the original hearing, claim itâs all he said/she said and try to get on with the bumâs rush.
Important point by Matthew Miller - the FBI needs to re-interview Kavs. If they donât then run up the bogus flag.
âRamirez alleges that Kavanaugh exposed himself and approached her with his genitals out at a college partyâŚâ
Are we absolutely sure that âPJâ or âSquiâ arenât Louis CK?
Imagine if he had owned up to his behavior and then suddenly found God, changing his evil ways and living a good and wholesome life from then on. But instead, he used God as his cloak and shield to his booze crawl from one end of high school and out the other end at Yale.
And just as they seem to control chaos to their benefit, to quote Dr. Ian Malcom âLife finds a way.â (Again)
From Joshâs Twitter Feed.
Have Don McGahn and the WH Chief of Staff told the president yet that he has to shut up because they run the place now? Having found out from Kavanaugh who was at which event, they already know what avenues need to be closed off. The FBI will find out that, like the title character of âThe Truman Showâ, there will be some roads that suddenly are blocked, for six or seven days.
Oh yes, when you can bring a SCOTUS nominee into the proximity of copious amounts of Vomit, it may not be a good sign. After this article he not only looks like an alcoholic but a candidate for a bunk under the underpass. He can shake his fist angrily at the passerbys yelling âBut I went to Yale, I worked my Butt Off!â and his panhandling sign can read âI Liked Beer, I still like Beer!â
FYI âŚ
All things being equal, Iâd agree with you. But this particular WH has demonized FBI every way it could. I have to think there are career field agents who are like âSorry, POTUS, I might talk to my friends in the Press anywayâ.
I think that his drinking is relevant to his fitness. If he had a drinking problem in high school and college, how do we know that he doesnât have a drinking problem now?
Weâre hearing a lot about how the GOP is constraining the number of witnesses to be contacted by the FBI. I think the public pressure will get them (or the FBI to the extent there is any pandering to the WH happening) to break on it.
Iâm seeing a lot more stories about Kavanaugh, his drinking, and other incidents, including one where he started a fight by throwing beer at someoneâs face. There would be a record of this incident because allegedly someone got arrested.
The walls are closing in on Brett Kavanaugh. I think what Democrats need to keep saying is that they will use their gavels to go after Kavanaugh and anyone connected with the attempt to cover up the truth.
The failure to have âSquiâ on the interviewee list is a big omission as it gets right to heart of the Kavnauagh-Whelan-McGahn-Grassley-Hatch-Graham orchestrated smear and false cover story. We need to put a lot more pressure on these guys and to have people in Maine and Alaska continue to raise the volume.
