After carefully weighing the options of keeping the DMV offices open (expensive) or stopping the vote-suppressing ID requirements (free!), the party of fiscal responsibility does the expensive thing, thus revealing its black little heart.
Exactly. This whole episode makes a mockery of Robertsās logic. Roberts has got to be fuming. They werenāt supposed to be so brazen about it and now whatās he going to do?
I supposed when the Justice Department shows you the Mason jar holding your balls, asking if youād like them back, you reconsider whatever your latest flirtation with idiocy is.
Something about that head makes me hope heās wearing a hat when he goes outside. Maybe a nice tall one with a point. White would be good, maybe with some fancy red satin trim to indicate his status.
@richardnixonhuberthumphrey You really think he cares? That twisted logic was designed especially for this end.
In exchange, the governor has asked rural and black lawmakers to back permanent funding for the DMVs when the legislature returns
Thatās the tell. Did he ask the entire legislature to back permanent funding? Get them to commit to unended funding of DMV offices and when the purse is tight, blame them for the financial pinch. Obviously budgets change and offices will need to be closed or condensed, no one has on issue with smart, selective changes to the DMV offices in that state, itās the blanket closing of so many just when those offices are an absolute necessary part of ensuring all the rural and black people in the state can vote.
Exactly right.
The one thing Iāve never understood in this story is how they expected an entire state to only have like four DMV offices. Forgetting the voter disenfranchisement for the moment, how did they expect people to drive?
A little temporary inconvenience to advance the primary agenda. No one should forget the disenfranchisement for even a moment. That was the primary agenda.
Damnā¦the old guy didnāt understand that crazy internets/social media stuff. He got caught.
