An NBC article posted on another thread reported that the cameraman was engaged, and she had just moved in with her boyfriend of nine months, who was the station’s evening anchor.

Now if only the media would do what they could to put a chokehold on the NRA.

Um, no. My phone is loaded with news apps also. I’ve received pop-ups about this shooting from Huff Post, AP, BBC, Yahoo News, Google News, Reuters and The Guardian, to name but a few. The absence of a WaPo alert to you isn’t indicative of media apathy in any way.

And the man was pointing directly at the person/people on the ground. Obviously this is speculation, but it looks targeted (meaning he got who he intended to get).

After Sandy Hook the NRA and their rats in Congress figured they had passed the ultimate test. They intend to cruise right by this and thousands of other gun deaths. We must persist in our efforts to restore our right to life.

If you harp on about the Second Amendment, “second amendment solutions” the glory of guns and at the same time how horrible the “liberal media” is you are going to get this. This is a predictable event given the talk talk environment we live in today. ‘Shooting someone is your right and the liberal media are out to take everything away from you and give it to the Blacks and Gays’. Bang bang is soon to follow.

We don’t know why this shooting happened. We can tell that it is not a spree killing, but other than that, we don’t know.

However, you are right about the fact that we have a culture in this country which glorifies guns, and that creates a situation where people are likely and willing to use them to attack people. There have actually been a few cases where bored rich white kids have admitted to killing people just for the experience. The Republicans talk about abortion being horrific, but when you look at the real ‘Culture of Death’, it comes out of the GOP in statements which glorify firearms, devalue people, and perpetuate hatred against anyone not following lockstep behind them.

Exactly. Part of the NRA strategy has been to desensitize Americans to gun violence and I think, unfortunately, they’ve been effective.

What difference does his race make? I’m guessing he was angry…he shot to people to death. But they were the same race as the shooter so I don’t get why that angle is coming up.
