Didn’t you know? Sharia law is the biggest challenge this country faces. That and very long children, a dire threat to the country that donnie brought to light recently:
“They’ve been here a long time, they’re longer children…nevertheless I think we should do something,” he [trump] said of the latter effort.
Her opponents for the primary to date are two losers: 1) Kelli Ward, a fruitcake, tinfoil-hat conspiracy theorist who already claims to have Trump’s full support based his earlier hatred of Jeff Flake. She lost out to McCain most recently in his latest campaign. But she is a capital city darling among the loony right. 2) Disgraced loser Joe Arpaio, federal felon with a Trump pardon, who is also a capital city loon. He misses attention but is despised by anybody not a racist or bigot for flouting state and federal laws.
McSally is from So. AZ and will have a hard time getting known across state lines, but she is much less a loon than a lightweight thinker and political opportunist without much belief other than the Mil/Ind Complex must be the big winner in all debates. Let’s call her an inauthentic and squishy right-winger who hides her lesbianism. It is likely, however, that the mainstream Phoenix corporatists back her to avoid controversy. She could win the primary if the other two split the Trumpian vote.
Democrats need a very strong candidate and a good turnout of voters.
The only cure for what ails AZ is to get out the vote. Because we are a retirement state and have a lot of rural areas (and those old people VOTE), if we don’t get off our lazy collective asses and start voting we will always be a “shithole” state. I have seen more people actively involved in politics in the last year than I have EVER seen since I moved here in 1970. This is the year! The only way to exterminate this menace is to vote and I will be doing everything I can to get people to the polls.
I don’t know anything about Martha McSally, but i do give her some credit for telling the rest of her party to grow a pair of ovaries. Unfortunately, i’m sure most of the men in her party find her suggestion an insult. She’s got balls to even suggest such a thing!
She is halfway through her 2nd term in the House, she would need to be re-elected again (or elected to the Senate) and serve at least one more full year to be eligible for any retirement benefits. At that point, she would be eligible for a pension starting at roughly $20k a year. If she does not win again, she receives no pension.
McSally vs. Arpaio…who’s the “establishment” Republican again?
And if building a wall and calling Haiti a shithole country is the position if the “fiery anti-immigration” wing of the party, what’s the position of the “establishment”? Apparently being willing have a wall built with their votes and refusing to actually oppose anything the “fiery anti-immigration” wing does, even if they can be bothered to express concern about comments like Trump’s yesterday. Incidentally, my “establishment” GOP Congressman, Tom Cole, has so far refused to even criticize Trump’s shithole comment.
McSally knows she can’t win re-election in her southeast Arizona district. So she is jumping into a statewide race. The demographics for the Senate race will be tougher for her than in CD2, especially after she spends eight months trying to prove she hates Hispanics more than Sheriff Joe. I hope she has good retirement plans.
Oh, I don’t think we’ll even get that level of lip service from her. Right outta the gate I think it’s safe to say Martha McSally is a complete shit head. I’d love to know her opinion about EVERY Republican in Washington who were so vehemently against allowing women to serve in combat positions at all? How does she square that? Bah!
But McSally avoids her Republican opponents altogether in her announcement video, focusing instead on her military service while adding a jab at Sharia law — a reference to her fight against a military policy that required female soldiers in some Muslim-majority countries to wear robes over their service uniforms.
“I absolutely refused to bow down to Sharia law,” she said. “After eight years of fighting, I won my battle for the religious freedom of American servicewomen.”
So her fight was against Rummy and the CENTCOM commander at the time, Tommy Franks…
Just waiting on Andy Biggs to join that party and then the Steele Dossier can get mentioned.
