Discussion: Rep. Chaffetz Warns D.C. Mayor Could Go To Jail Over Marijuana Legalization

We don’t have any Republican elected officials. I cannot even imagine that scenario ever happening. DC council is required to leave one seat open to non-Dems and that is usually occupied by a Dem who switches independent.

According to the latest news flash I’ve gotten from Fox, “prosecutorial discretion” is the worst crime since child murder, so…

Teatroll Rosetta Stone:

"Dear Mayor:

You have reached Uppity Level 1. Should you persist in these actions, we will have no choice but to assign you Uppity Level 2, which will come with strict consequences. We MUST protect the sanctity of our white power and cannot be seen to allow any darkies to question or challenge us. What would I tell my racist, bigoted white base back home if I let you get away with disobeying me? It just can’t be allowed to happen without trying to put you in jail with the rest of your people where you belong in the first place.

Furthermore, please note that we’ve sent these letters to set up the argument that Obama is failing to arrest and prosecute you because you’re a fellow blah person, so maybe you should think about that and the effect it will have on your boy before you go ahead and implement these policies.

Lastly, before you ask, no, of course we’re not bothering Alaska’s chief executive with the same nonsense even though they just voted to legalize it. If you’re asking that question, I suspect you don’t quite get how this politics thing all works.

Very Truly Yours,

Jason “I’ll teach you to talk back to me” Chaffetz"

I am shocked that a Republican has agreed with President Obama on anything.

Who’s going to arrest her?

The mayor could get dragged off to jail, play the martyr, and be politically (at least in DC) untouchable for a decade.

Yo, GOP, how’s that Small-Federal-Government thingy to be played with then drowned in your bathtub idea going? Didn’t the good, very conservative folks of Alaska just implement something like this?

Correct on all points except the Mayor is a she.

LOL. I wonder how many youngsters know what Gold Bond even is? Maybe more than I might realize.

Where are the jobs your party promised, now that the keys to the Senate were handed over to your party? Is this the governing we were promised after the 2014 election?

It isn’t absolutely certain that this is hypocrisy because in order to be a hypocrite, you have to be bright enough to understand that two similar things are similar. It’s more like a case of irony deficiency or “but that’s different!”

Please proceed, wingnuts.

Actually I doubt it’s as much because the mayor is black as it is because DC no longer wants to prosecute its citizens for having small amounts of pot. The (national) GOP (and its large and wealthy prison industry donor base) is enraged about this, but mostly powerless to do anything about Oregon, Washington, or now Alaska (which as you point out further complicates things by being an ‘R’ state). But sadly, they’re not completely powerless to do anything to screw over DC, which is not a state.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the GOP try to pass legislation demanding that current federal marijuana laws be fully enforced even (especially) in states that have legalized it (but again, Alaska throws a wrench in things), even though that MuSK-D (Muslim Socialist Kenyan Darkie) would veto it (if it even made it out of the Senate). But unfortunately for them, they can pass all the laws they want (or are able); enforcement is still up to the executive branch.
