Discussion: Rep. Chaffetz Considers An Underdog Bid For Speaker

Another GOP sociopath. What does the GOP do? Hang out a sign: ONLY FOOLS APPLY.

The clown car of republican candidates is not the only clown car of that party. In fact. in congress it’s a whole 18 wheeler.

so, making a fool of himself in the Planned Parenthood hearing qualifies Chaffetz to be Speaker of the House? Brash is a kind word. He was unprepared, rude and obnoxious.

Everyone says that, but it ain’t true.

The President is not in line. He is the President.

The speaker is second in line.

Apropos of nothing, Chaffetz was born to be a plastic bobble head figurine…

Good point.

Agreed. Even more, its an attention grabbing move with no downside for the bomb throwers in the House. It weakens McCarthy before he is even elected. (Well, even more than he has already weakened himself). This lets McCarthy know that they are holding a sword over his head right from the get go.

Great gif. But I am not sure that McCarthy has the necessary 218 votes. He basically admitted in the apology interview with Baier that he doesn’t have the votes yet.

Why not? He’s established himself as sufficiently moronic for the republican party.

It takes some seriously useless do-nothing incompetence to out not-do such a comically casually corrupt Congress critter chief as Boehner, but the Congressional GOP appear to have a bottomless reserve of bumbling moronic clowns. Chaffetz versus McCarthy is the least interesting most pointless undercard match of feck vee feck conceivable.

No Crazy Uncle Asparagus Judge Loo-ee. No racial-hate supreme white sewage-spewing Steve King. No Tim the Toothless Heulskamp constantly fondling an election out of his single neuron-powered reptile cortex. None of the more gaudily colorful among this truly disturbed pit of malformed vipers and orc rejects.

Boehner was not the worst Speaker of my life-time; that title stays with Newt, because Newt set out to seriously fck things up and succeeded. It remains possible that Boenner, for all the public paper-plane sailing of lobbyists checks and open line fluffling of Wall Street, was not quite so corrupt as Dennis Hastert, who was, after all, truly every bit the festering boil on the anus of America that Rush Limbaugh was at his peak florid. But as bad and weak and corrupt as Boehner was, at least he has a single desperate fingernail grasp on reality, which is more than one can say for Chaffetz.

And I detect a widely held general view that McCarthy is even worse.

Two disadvantages:

  1. Looks Mexican

  2. Will have to accommodate rather than posture

  3. Doesn’t have the temperament

  4. Is not the Brightest Bulb in the socket

  5. Why do it, if there is so much other mischief to be done?

  6. Herding cats, anyone?

Well done!

We will be lucky to get out of this without a sovereign default. A government shutdown or two are almost a foregone conclusion.

These guys are clearly frustrated and therefore, angry. They won’t win the presidency and their long term viability as a party is in doubt. Certainly the Republicans won’t be the Tea party influenced organization it is now. Plus, for whatever reason, these guys have a nihilistic streak a mile wide.

Wounded animals are dangerous.

If they are going to open up the race for Speaker to the stupid and unprepared, I nominate Louie Gohmert. Why stop at intolerant and ideologically incoherent, when you can go all the way to fully anti-intellectual and proud of it?

Why aren’t any of the old farts in the running? These are just kids in political terms and if nominated would be the equivalent of children guiding the elders.
Why not McCain for instance, he does the lion’s share of the speaking anyways. Boener was the sucker that wound up on top in the era of teabagging and that experience has scared away all of the other old timers.

If the Republicans really put one of these inexperienced, but willing to be obnoxious and continually wrong in front of the world goofballs, in such a powerful and truly important position, then the veil has fallen, the pretense of governing is completely gone and the adherence to nothing but special interests is the Party’s only platform.

Personally, I don’t see where anyone of them makes any worthwhile difference whatsoever, they are just worse and worser, dumb and dumber and the next clown in line. They don’t have a leader that wants to work for America, not one.

When Nancy Pelosi became Speaker in 2006 we understood she was only one heartbeat away from the presidency since Cheney didn’t have a heart.
