Only state cases could. Anything strictly federal no. But you can’t just dissolve two active grand juries and send them home without causing a lot of outcry for heaven’s sake. It would be different if they hadn’t been empaneled but they’ve been working for months. And they’ve issued indictments and some are still sealed.
There’s plenty state AGs can use to go forward on their own statutes. So likely it wouldn’t go away altogether. I don’t know exactly how much is relevant to state charges that Mueller has.
But he’s got plenty if he needs 3 weeks to put his case on against Manafort and Gates. Usually the defense takes 3 weeks and the prosecution takes 3 days. So 3 weeks certainly got my attention.
Cotton and Perdue have been auditioning for the job. They’ve both given their best “I don’t recall” performances. Perdue has a slight edge because he added later, “I would never recuse myself, even if I was the one being investigated.” Cotton, though, is the bigger dork.
Sessions is not going to resign. If they want him gone they’ll have to fire him. That much Sessions has pretty much told me by riding out all this humiliation.
And notice how the entire GOP now is using the word “treason” for anything that someone does that isn’t in support of them and the president. They are throwing that word around for all they are worth and that just tells me everything.
I read a tweet last night that said Eric Trump is now being investigated by the Maryland AG. Sadly, I can’t find it now so can’t offer more details and a Google search was unsuccessful.
I just hope this all turns into a true family affair with state charges all around, with charges against Lara (Qusay’s wife) too; she did some RNC coordinating and now works for the digital company, Giles-Parscale, used by Cockholster’s presidential campaign.
Wouldn’t it be nice if redistricting forced Meadows and McHenry (Chief Deputy Whip) to go up against each other? It’s not going to happen, but if it did…oh, man.
Grassley went home for the weekend and got his ass ground up like hamburger and handed back to him by previous Trump voters who wanted to know why Grassley wasn’t concerned that the president is unfit for the office.
OT, but since we can’t comment directly on it: how does John Judis manage to be so consistently wrong? His piece this morning is actually right in its broad outline - if 2 years late after all his “Trump supporters have a lot of economic anxiety” posts - yet he still manages to completely misinterpret the meaning of the song “Civilization”.
Yes it’s full of racist tropes, but it’s about how so-called “civilization” has turned the world to shit, culminating in the atom bomb, and everyone would be happier abandoning it and fishing in the jungle all day. Literally the opposite of the Trumpists’ belief that once those savage Africans see the glories of civilization, they’ll never go back to their shithole huts and instead will stay here and degrade us.
