A few of the jokes-the ones poking fun at himselfâwere relatively funny. But obviously Trump didnât write them. Most of it, and the stuff he obviously liked the best and elaborated on, was typical Trump stuffâcruel, vicious attacks. But right-wingers in general donât get humor. Example: ââHey did you hear the one about the pro boxer who beat the shit out of an old homeless guy in a wheelchair who had asked him for money?â âNo, I didnât hear that one.â âThatâs the joke! He beat the shit of him! I been laughing all day at that one.ââ OK, maybe I made that up, but itâs pretty close to the truth.

True, but with huge differences between them and the nature of their âhumorâ (in quotes for Trump, not Rickles).
Ricklesâs attack humor was never based on âIâm great, youâre not.â Sharp attacks, but no self-aggrandizement, and his targets were willing participants. Everyone who knew him said that offstage he was sweet, kind, and generous. None of that is true for Dear Leader.

Am I the only one who thinks itâs weird that he elected to go to this thing this year? Itâs not like heâs suddenly on better terms with the MSM. I wonder if heâs lost so many of his inner circle at the WH that he feels more desperate to throw a bone to the press to try to make them feel more important and see if he can get (back?) in their graces. Which has zero chance of working cause itâs Trump weâre talking about, but still.
