OK…now he can prove himself to be a man of his convictions. Of courage. He can bee bop into that Federal Courthouse and tell the Judge he does not believe in his authority or the government’s authority to issue charges against him. He’s been yakking that for 2 years now…so lets see if he has the stones to do it when he’s got some skin in the game.

Since the 2014 standoff, much of the land has been unavailable to the public or federal workers because of threats of violence from the Bundys. In an excellent story a couple of weeks ago, NPR detailed how BLM signs have been destroyed, trash has piled up and prehistoric petroglyphs have been vandalized.

Is your disbelief rooted in your disappointment that it took this long to find a way to arrest him without someone getting hurt? Not saying it is, but it seems a lot of commenters would have chosen to put law enforcement in harm’s way so they could feel vindicated sooner and feel that because there was not a bloody confrontation that the government isn’t going to do anything because he’s white or some nonsense.
Patience is not easy, but it is easier than explaining to the family of a dead law enforcement officer that, gosh, we really wanted something to happen NOW, for it to be resolved like a television show. Fuck that. This guy’s an asshole but it is not worth anyone dying in order to punish him.

The best part is that no judge in their right mind is going to allow these jokers roam free pending trial. And given the complexity of the case and the hoops the defense will try to get everyone to jump through, that will be a very long time.

I’m trying to figure out who was the more gullible goofball here. The Bundy boys for leaving the security of their compound to go to a publicized meeting in another town and thus defeat the purpose of having a secure compound. Or the old man, for having seen how the Feds nabbed his boys after leaving the compound, yet willingly traveling by airplane and thus deliver himself unarmed to a highly secure place that would be almost impossible to escape if they chose to nab him.
It’s almost as if…all this talk of an epic struggle against tyranny was just pretend and they didn’t feel any danger at all even after openly threatening the government or seeing how serious the government was about punishing them for it. Honestly, if our Founding Fathers were this foolish, we’d all be speaking English right now. I mean, you know, the other way.

Long list of charges is gratifying to me and probably millions like me. I wonder if these interstate commerce crimes will also be levied against the Malheur terrorists. And I wonder when / if the IRS begins its examination of Bundy’s tax statements over the years. And I assume that the FBI has identified many others in that 100s of Bundy Bunch who can also expect FBI criminal indictments, probably much the same as Cliven’s. The FBI is now picking them off like beer cans on the corral rail. Pop goes the weasel, pop, pop, pop into jail, court and then prison. The IRS alone could easily tie up and harass the Bundy’s for the remainder of their sorry lives, not to mention what the FBI is going to do to them. Talk about self centered arrogance, once again hubris is bringing down the criminals. Loved reading the FBI indictment. They’ve got it down, and it was easy: the Bundy’s begged the FBI to get’em, and the FBI did and is doing just that.

Umm… No, they don’t.
Even if he gets less than that he’s going to be an aged man if or when he gets out. I’m guessing that with the weapons charges that he would not be eligible for a minimum-security facility.

Exactly, there were numerous comments about how these people would not be busted because they were white. Pure nonsense based on their own personal bias, no rational thought involved. The notion that these people would not be arrested was as delusional as it gets.
And now it turns out this guy is being charged in the 2014 episode, likely due to the fact that they were able to get some warrants during this occupation and get more info.
Yes, Law Enforcement handled this very nicely for sure. The only dead guy was obviously suicidal and looking to be a martyr since he was a loser in real life. They knew the rest of these clowns were wimps who would eventually give up, and since they were in the middle of nowhere they posed no danger. And if black people were protesting by occupying some sanctuary in the middle of nowhere with arms, Law Enforcement would have done the exact same thing.
But don’t worry, the same people making all the asinine comments will now say “they won’t be convicted”, and when convicted they will say “they won’t be sentenced”, and when sentenced they will say “yeah, and they will give them hookers and booze in prison”, etc. Conspiracy nuts never stop their idiocy.

Ummm, yes. They busted him at the airport, where he could not be armed. And I suspect that due to the current situation, they were able to get more info on the 2014 standoff to use against him with warrants, etc.
