I am so going to miss him.
âOh, he so doesnât mean it!â
I expect that and more.
Very well done.
Of course, not to mention assertions the police donât feel that he means it.
Heartfelt letter. I especially liked the part where he writes, âEven when some protest you, you protect themâŚâ. Itâs a subtle jab at those who would denigrate protestors. Not LEOs so much as the Rudy Gulianis of the world. Really a nice frame.
He has expressed much of this sentiment in the past weeks following each tragedy in his press conferences. Plus you could see how affected he was by his body language (so vilely misinterpreted by Drumpf of course). So while the sentiment is well-stated, I find it a little disappointing that the WH felt they had to do this.
No hidden body language, but letâs break out the âThose Peopleâ secret decoder ring to see what he really means âin his heartâ
Iâm savoring each day in these upcoming 6 months & deeply appreciate how wonderful it is and has been with Obama as President.
Dude has more class in one of his asshairs than the entire GOP/Teatroll cabal can muster combined.
Rudy Giuliani, read and weep. Seriously, stop trying to incite violence, Rudy â you (supposedly) used to be better than that.
Thank you, President Obama. I recently send you and Michelle a note thanking you for being such a great inspiration to many. Sir, this letter is exactly what I meant.
âBind up our woundsâ. We will now hear that Obama is a plagiarist!!!
When will Melania Trump be claiming this work as her own? 3âŚ2âŚ1âŚand âboomâ goes the dynamite!
Fox News: President Obama Praises the Work of Activists in Open Letter to Law Enforcement - A Slap in the Face?
Of course if you examine the text carefully, you can see that 93% of this is pre-plagiarized from Trumpâs âMake America Safeâ convention speech this Thursday.
Rudy was never better than his current incarnation. He was always a race-baiting authoritarian who defended the police no questions asked and smeared the victims of police violence.
This was pitch-perfect.
And the passage, âwe again recognize that we can no longer ask you to solve issues we refuse to address as a societyâ seems like a very adept way to reach out and enlist â the more cynical would say co-opt â law enforcement professionals to support President Obamaâs longer-term, more comprehensive approach to the underlying causes of this crisis, which also will involve greater engagement between police departments and community members, counseling, after-school and other programs for at-rick youth, job creation and other economic development programs in cities, support for single parents, criminal justice and sentencing reform, etc.
This is a long game, but just as with the process that ended DOnât Ask, Donât Tell, President Obamaâs approach of enlisting institutional forces seems like a good wat to achieve meaningful and lasting change.
