Discussion: READ: Michael Cohen Sues Trump Org For Legal Costs Of Nearly $2 Million

Why isn’t anyone pointing out how exorbitant these fees are? Is this what it really should cost to get representation these days, and what does that say about everyone else, who can’t afford these kinds of fees. Surely there are competent attorneys who would charge a whole lot less than these millions, for the same services. But these are not the attorneys with their noses in the money trough where these people all feed together.

Especially since Donnie barely knew him, he got some coffee, made a few phone calls. That’s all

Definitely the latter.

Mikey has the receipts and all the documentation - just like a good lawyer would.

One would think the administration would understand, since they kept him around as their legal enforcer for decades, that what he did FOR them, he would do TO them.

I wonder how extensive discovery would be and it would be interesting to get a look at the contract to see exactly how it was worded. Looking specifically for Obstruction of Justice.

Oh, I don’t know - anything that gets us closer to the prize of Trump being gone, I can root for.

As others have asked, why did Trump have to split his repayment of $130,000 to Cohen over several periods? He should have been able to pay it all at once.

Could’ve been they were trying to get in under the wire of a major transfer of funds. Seems to me there’s some banking rule that says transfers like this over a certain value get flagged?

Someone help me out here.

COULD it be that Trump–at negative net worth–is worth less than the migrants he vilifies?

To disguise it as a monthly retainer paid for legal services. Your basic money laundering.

O I think so depending on how much he’s in debt.

Says who? Big time white collar defense lawyers are expensive. Remember, they had to go through all the seized documents that were turned over to the special master. That alone was a huge undertaking, one that was difficult for a huge firm. A “cheaper” lawyer would not have the resources to do that. And who was demanding that the FBI wasn’t good enough to do the document review (“taint team”)? Donald J. Trump.

I note that there is no Indemnification agreement attached to the law suit, so it’s either part of the joint defense agreement or it’s an oral contract.

Since it is a civil case, no 5th amendment!

As we learned during the Clinton matter.

Absolutely. He had no board of directors that he had to report back to – his company was basically him and his children – and they shared the grift. He thought he could run the country the same way, but things changed bigly as of November 2018 and February 2019, when the government shutdown ended.
