Public prayer by pols should be called what it is: Dog whistling.
I unfortunately set my DVR to record the speech on ABC â big mistake â just the most inane commentary ever. I heard many callouts of Trump in her speech â and yet afterwards, their far right pundit Hugh Hewitt gushed that sheâd be a fantastic VP choice for Trump! Its like he didnât hear the speech at all. All I can surmise is that he was rendered unconscious by the whiteness of her TEETH.
Thanks - I get tired of her being credited as a hero for having that flag removed. She did so ONLY when it became politically advantageous for her to do so.
That would actually distract you from the pain.
Reality is a scary placeâŚand some would obviously rather reside elsewhereâŚ
Nikki Haleyâs brutal attacks on Donald Trump and Ted Cruz were unbecoming. She sounded angry and hateful. They were a violation of Ronny Reaganâs Tenth Commandment.
Sheâs a total idiot. Not a thought in her head.
After that GOP response to the SOTU, she got ripped to shreds by Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham and others on the right. So she wouldnât be a VP pick that would excite the base the way Sarah Palin did in '08. But if the Presidential nominee is someone like Trump or Cruz who does excite the base, maybe they still pick Haley for VP to balance the ticket.
âUnfortunately, the Presidentâs record has often fallen far short of his soaring words."
Of course, she failed to point out that the Republicans did everything within their power to limit Presidentâs Obama ability to do grand things. How many millions were spent on repealing Obama care and how many millions of Americans were denied medical care by Republican governors? Obama has many failings, but one canât discuss his Presidency without considering Republican obstructionism.
âWe would end a disastrous health care program, and replace it with reforms that lowered costs and actually let you keep your doctor.
âWe would respect differences in modern families, but we would also insist on respect for religious liberty as a cornerstone of our democracy."
Sheesh! Standard Republican talking points. The Republicans did everything with their power to keep our disastrous health care program, and they have NO respect for any family that is different from their âJudeo-Christianâ tradition. Seriously, this was just the same old Republican BS with a better speech writer. And as pointed out, she only got rid of the Confederate Flag when it was politically expedient to do so. I donât see Ms. Haley as a VP any time soon.
More coherent than recent responses.
Nimrataâs speech was actually a bit more lucid than that of Piyush, but just as fullosh*tââŚand more than anything else just screamed: âLook at me. Iâm THE brown female Republican. Thank you and good night !â
Haley says âwe must resist that temptationâ to give in to âthe angriest voices.â ___ That leitmotif translates: âTrumpâs racism and bigotry are much too overt; we MUST dial it back and go back to our dog whistles.â
Her condescending, clenched teeth screed, with her nod and homage to Israel to secure Sheldon Adelsonâs pat on the back, was her bid for a VP nod on the GOPig ticket. Stepford Nimrata had a script to follow, and did a pretty good job of securing a place as window dressing in the GOP cesspool this election cycle.
(*BTW: If you turned away and listened, youâd swear âSiriâ was giving the rebuttal.)
And the capper? THIS tweet from lilâ Rinsed Prius: (I couldnât stop laughing.)

The reponses were brutalâŚand very funny and spot on!
It wasnât much of a âresponseâ to the actual speech but she comes off a lot better than the jerks running for the presidency in her party. She has advanced her v.p. cred with that speech.
Yes, I saw that as well. I was stunned, I tell you, stunned! In a good way
One of the things I find extremely unnerving is how its become expected for (GOP especially) nominees to pick a young pretty face for their running mate. If the position of VP has any importance â its that the person has the experience and leadership skills to step into the role of president at a moments notice. Its not an intern position. Remember when Bush the elder picked Dan Qualye? He was skewered. Then McCain picked Palin â and I know many people voted against that ticket because of fear of his advanced age and the possibility of her ever assuming command. Now we have Haleyâs name being floated and also Julian Castro â who may be good, but he sure looks very green to me. Do we know if either of these young âstarsâ really have the intelligence or do they just have the right look? I know the same criticism was lobbed at Obama â but he was so clearly of such high intellect and common sense. He didnât merely recite the talking points of his party. And in the end, he chose a very experience statesman to be at his side. Same didnât hold true when W picked Cheney â but that situation was kind of extraordinary. Cheney was vetting others for the job and manipulated the situation to pick himself.
Watching her give her speech I was taken aback by two things (both very shallow but here goes :-)) 1) Her teeth were so white they were almost electric and 2) She never really opened her mouth when she was speaking. She looked like one of those old Jay Leno gags where he used to superimpose a set of talking lips on a still life picture to give the face the appearance of actually talking.
⌠many Americans are still feeling the squeeze of an economy too weak to raise income levels âŚ
Republicans seem to have convinced themselves that the Shrub administration never happened, that all the shit Bush left for Obama to clean up was Obamaâs own doing; and that Republican obstructionism had nothing to do with the speed of recovery.
If McCain had won in 2008, nobody would have health care or a job right now, and weâd be at war with Iran rather than them simply giving back a few boats that strayed into their territorial waters.
