Screw Flake.
Standing for your principles doesn’t count if you are getting up to leave anyway.
Screw Flake.
Standing for your principles doesn’t count if you are getting up to leave anyway.
This genius innovation, which affirms Madison’s status as a true
visionary, and for which Madison argued in Federalist 51, held that the
equal branches of our government would balance and counteract with each
other if necessary.
US Politicians love talk up the “separation of powers” but if you look at the history of elected governments, the parliamentary governments, which pretty much invest everything in parliament, don’t really have a notably worse record than the “three branch” constructions like ours.
Only Flake could break the China.
Let’s see what he does in the next few weeks. I’ll be watching what he votes for.
I have new respect for this man. OK, fine, maybe that’s because I previously really had none, but still, that speech was well done and he deserves credit for what can only be described as issuing a clarion call to sanity.
Yeah - that’s how it works. We Democrats can and despite all the bitching, have condemned this president and this administration. Loudly and often and if you don’t believe me just go turn on MSNBC
The only people listening to the Democrats when they do say these things is us. No conservatives = they don’t watch MSNBC.
So the more conservatives we let into the lifeboat the more will follow. They ain’t going anywhere with us but they will go with their own kind. And god knows y’all spend enough time and bandwidth worrying about his base. Well this is the kind of thing that makes inroads on that.
Nah. The act of doing this makes him an outsider in their minds. This isn’t heard or witnessed as “holy shit, one of our own is telling us to introspect and be honest with ourselves that we’ve gone astray.” Rather, it is heard and witnessed as either the Charlie Brown teacher’s voice and/or “RINO proves he’s a scumbag traitor who is not fit to lick Messiah Trump’s anus and that he’s really a secret liberal…fuck him and may he die in a fire with the rest of his liberal ilk.” I’m dead serious. You guys really should spend more time within their filth holes observing how they think and react to things.
This would have been a great speech if it hadn’t ended with “Fuck this bullshit. I’m outta here.”
(This probably means we’ll be stuck with Kelli Ward as our next Senator. Wow, thanks a lot, Flake.)
May he find his inner bull.
“Trump is treason!” made my day.
Here is the video:
No Tax Cut Left Behind™
HIs voice is quivering. This was obviously very emotional for him.
You are probably correct about the hardliners – but maybe he will nudge a few other closeted “RINOS” to take a stand. I need to keep hoping.
Yeah people are saying - it’s nothing since he’s leaving. People it is his goodbye speech - that’s why he gave it.
When will liberals learn to take a winning hand and go with it? When? instead of tearing this down we should be talking it up bigtime.
Do you see? Do you understand? He took “parting shots” and he’s “facing a tough primary fight.” This is what will be presented, consumed and internalized WITHIN THE BUBBLE. The fucking article even ends with a glowing endorsement from Jan Brewer of his would-be replacement. It’s like you guys sometimes forget that half (probably more) of the country simply hasn’t met a rational thought in their entire fucking lives hehe
The KKKomment Boards will treat you to such gems as the following (granted, some are likely paid “reinforcement trolls”, but what they do WORKS) :
“Jeff Snowflake can go on his way. He’s “retiring” because he knows he was going to be beat in the primary. One RINO down, many more to go… and enough with the Fake Flake Praise.”
“Anger and resentment”. You mean like Hillary, Bill, Barack, Charles, Bernie, Nancy, Pocahontas, and Tim? After you switch to their Party, Mr. Flake, all you’re gonna see in them is anger and resentment."
“Flake is an apt name for him. Arizona would have dumped him in the next election anyway. It is a red State, pro-Trump and will be better off once they get rid of their RINOs.”
“Flake was another Leftist barnacle forcibly scraped off the bottom of the Good Ship America!”
So, if you think there’s going to be a sudden paroxysm of conscience amongst the GOP, please think again.
It is often said that children are watching. Well, they are. And what are we going to do about that? When the next generation asks us, ‘Why didn’t you do something? Why didn’t you speak up?’ What are we going to say?
… …
If he’s speaking to the GOP they ain’t listening. He’s not that popular with them or their base, even when he votes with them 95% of the time. So if he thinks he’s doing something wonderful for his party, getting out is an odd way to show it after you’ve been bullied by President Bannon to get out with tRump’s full approval behind it. He was in trouble for his seat. That’s why he didn’t risk it…ergo, that’s where his impetus comes from imo. Its their civil war, so I really couldn’t care less, as long as we have someone ready, willing and able to step up in the Democratic party to work hard to take that seat and fight for a better way forward.
Well fine then.
I’m personally gratified to see someone from the GOP get up and make a speech about things I think matter.
Of course, it was fine with Flake when the Republicans were trying to destroy President Obama. He supported blocking Garland and voted for the nuclear option to confirm Gorsuch.
Flake is resigning because he is afraid to lose a primary. If he could win it, he’d stay; his principles be damned.
