From the article:
Flynn pleaded guilty guilty last December to lying to the FBI agents about his conversations with Kislyak.
In other news tonight, the Wicked Witch of the West “is not only merely dead, she’s really most sincerely dead”…
Hereafter to be referred to as “Flynn, Crim.” It almost rhymes!
With Mad Libs they identify the part of speech for each missing word – I wonder if they could re-redact it that way. At least we’d have a fighting chance!
The world would have been a better place if your gullible dumb ass would have just ended up renting surfboards in NH (to paraphrase Flynn’s book)
He did not lie about meeting the russians, he lied about discussing the sanctions.
I don’t understand anything about anything, but legal twitter seems to think that Mr. Flynn might have a bad day tomorrow.
Let us not forget his cheerleading the lock her up chants at the dotard’s rallies. He broke the law and was actively conspiring with a foreign power to undermine the sitting US President.
Lock the asshole up.
His defenders at Fox like Dershowitz defense is that he was interviewed without a lawyer present and thus “entramped” into lying. They also have high hopes on the judge Emmet Sullivan, a #MAGA crackpot.
This may be an opinion somewhat at odds with the braintrust, but if I could choose between “Michael Flynn walks a free man but gets the equivalent of a retroactive dishonorable discharge” and “General Michael Flynn goes to federal prison for six months”, I’d take the former every day and twice on Sundays.
Dishonored the uniform.
Flynn doesn’t give a rat’s tail about the honor of the uniform, he cares about his pocket book and that of his sonny.
He should get both.
Read the 302 twice. Need to cross reference to the Statement of Offense, but at 1st and 2nd glance, it appears fairly clear that Flynn lied multiple times about the key questions. If the judge demanded that this 302 be released prior to sentencing, it suggests to me that the Judge thinks that public disclosure of it is important for sentencing. If I had to guess, I think the Judge is going to give Flynn a jail sentence and the public release (of a still redacted memo in key parts) would serve to inoculate the Judge from criticism from the MAGA crowd. I do hope Flynn gets a jail sentence. I also think the military has to take this issue seriously and conduct its own investigation into whether Flynn should be censured or dishonorably discharged. I think it would be good for the military to both preserve its reputation and its legitimacy.
Make him put on his “dress blues” one more time and stand at attention while a Gold Star mother rips the stars off his shoulders.
Local him up!!!
I wouldn’t complain if he did! But.
Mueller and his team are in a position to know whether or not Flynn’s criminal liability should be mollified by his cooperation with the SC investigation. That’s just with regards to Flynn’s freedom from incarceration as a US citizen. I don’t think* that they should have a similar say in whether or not General Flynn is seen in a military sense to have served his country in every way honorably. Flynn’s current status as a retired officer is an honor above and beyond what Joe Schmuck on the street can claim, and he does not deserve it. He is beneath it, and he demeans it by his conduct and character.
.* “I don’t think” in the wishy-washy feelings sense, not as a legal argument
Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents about his conversations with Kislyak. And as the 302 shows, he did in fact lie.
ETA:
Why is this report repeated twice? Seems odd. Is one the initial report and one the final report? They’re both identical from what I can tell.
Anyhoo…I hope he doesn’t get off scot-free. He better have helped out Mueller a whole hell of a lot if that ends up happening. I don’t trust the scoundrel. I still think he’s duplicitous, thinking he’s figured out a way to out-smart the authorities. His hubris and fingerprints are all over this mess with Russia.
As for his deplorable son…now there’s a wretched piece of shit too.
Maximum sentence. “Pour encourager les autres.”
That’s the discussion on the first page. The report initially had the wrong header or markings or whatever, so they fixed it and filed it again. Apparently the fever swamp took the “they filed a modified document” and, predictably, turned it into another conspiraseeeeee.
