Well, no, because the “outrage” is fake as most right-wing “outrage” is and ginned up to take down someone that they perceive as an enemy. Since we’re talking about “child molestation” (which we’re not, by the way), expect the media to quickly brand her as “controversial”.

I’m not sure how Lena Dunham became a favorite boogeyman of the right but I’m fairly certain that Kevin Williamson has some skeletons in his closet that extend well past the age of prepubescent playing doctor.

Kudos to Jimmy Kimmel. Took some balls to jump into this one in light of the subject matter. As a guy, I’m afraid to even touch it with someone else’s dick.
However, I would suggest that looking to child development and child psychology experts may be informative. I would not be surprised at all to find out that it is indeed normal behavior for siblings of such young age to look at and touch each other and do other goofy things as a means of coming to understand their own equipment. There’s a reason “playing doctor” is an age old reference and it probably has some developmental truth to it. That’s just a guess tho…I’ll leave it to TPM to decide whether to do that research help inform everyone…my psych degree went nowhere near child development classes.

I’ve often commented that watching a conservative try to play a race card is like watching a monkey that’s gotten ahold of a field researcher’s cell phone.
What I mean by that is that they do their best to imitate the behavior of liberals in expressing outrage over racism, but they don’t really get the whole underlying concept, and they’re just ignorantly imitating liberals, as a sort of power grab. They see the accusation having power, and they want to wield that same power against their foes.
This looks an awful lot like that same dynamic. There are quite a few allegations of sexual assault that fit in with a liberal or feminist view of the world floating around the news lately, and they want to get in on the action.

They express support and deny that she was abused.
As a mass-market PR effort, perhaps they leave something to be desired.

I personally find her a bit insufferable, but also not important enough to cause strong feelings one way or the other. Not sure how folks work themselves up like this for anything.

Okay…first of all, it isn’t just Conservatives going after Dunham for what she says she did as a child. There are a LOT of survivors of rape and incest who are also furious over these events. I’m not of a situation where I feel I either can or should comment upon it other than to point out that there are Liberals who are furious too.
