He does not like being interviewed by women. Savannah Guthrie is, despite now being on the Today show, a real journalist. I wish she would go back to journalism, because she is great at it.
Paul is just a little twit. Nobody takes him seriously. I love how he said that he changed his opinion now that he’s running for office. That’s the nut right there, these morons say whatever they think they need to say to trick people into supporting them. Fortunately, we will not have to suffer a Rand Paul presidency.
Everytime I see that lying bigot, Rand Paul, I think of an old video of one of Dean Martin’s “roasts.” I can’t remember which one was being “roasted.” All I can remember is that Mohammmad Ali got it into his mind to rip Howard Cosell’s wig off his head and he kept at it and he kept at it with Howard fending off Ali for dear life squirming all over the set and Ali right on top of him. I wish Muhammad Ali could come and take hold of Rand Paul’s wig and torment him for awhile.
The thing is, there is nothing wrong with changing your position over time, so he is making a big deal out of nothing. Obama has changed positions on issues, as almost anyone has. It’s when people change their positions back and forth depending on who they are talking to that it becomes hypocrisy. Obama was against gay marriage, now he is for it. Good for him. Now if Obama meets with a church group and says he is against it, THAT is hypocrisy. But he won’t do that, he’s quite consistent.
As to Rand, unlike his father, he still has a bit of a temper. But I do like his general foreign policy views, not his domestic policy views. And at least he understands you can’t just cut off all foreign aid, it needs to be reduced gradually over time. Same with military spending. You can’t just slice the budget in half, the economy would collapse.
And frankly his “term limits” thing is spot on. Most House Reps and Senators vote based on being re-elected. I’l guarantee the Iraq War Resolution NEVER would have passed if people did not have to be concerned about AIPAC and OIL money for their next campaign. Hell, we have term limits on the President, why not for Congress?
Liz Mair, the media consultant/political adviser that lasted about a day working for Scott Walker, was on twitter last night speculating (fantasizing) that Rand Paul, Carly Fiorina or Scott Walker could very easily rattle Clinton in a debate. Fiorina & Paul share the thin skin gene and Walker couldn’t find his ass with a flashlight.
It got me thinking - Joe Biden would mop the floor with all three of them at the same time.
“We’re talking about a time when I wasn’t running for office, and I was helping someone else run for office”
This quote was his answer to the inquiry about his statement on Iran not being a threat in 2007, and now having a different position. Am I missing something or did he just blatantly admit he was just pandering at the time?
Savannah Guthrie is actually very intelligent and does good interviews. She actually listens to answers she gets and asks questions relevant to that. She is always well prepared and she does not get intimidated. She smiles a lot, and most likely Rand assumed as you did that this would be a fluff piece, but it wasn’t.
I doubt that he will get the same challenges from those on CNN, or MTP. The fact that he was schooling her on how to ask a question was highly insulting. She did not react in any personal way, but pushed on. You can tell that she was trained well as a lawyer and brings those skills to the interviews she does.
I was thinking that she would have been a much better MTP a host, but I am sure the “script” she would get would dilute her talents.
And BTW, many ordinary people watch these morning shows. I think it is great that these candidates get on these programs. Too many people have no idea how nutty some of these candidates are.
I thought they were way too easy on Ted Cruz but I may be misremembering because I probably went to brush my teeth while he was on.
Last night Rachel had a montage of his brittle responses when asked about his habitual plagerizing. He damn near lost his mind after a bit … it really pissed him off that anyone dare question him on anything that wasn’t his talking points.
I think you’ve got it right for the general populace, but this is red meat for the GOP base.
Uppity Woman? Check.

Victim of Uppity Woman Antagonism on Liberal MSM Show? Check
Can’t you Alpha Female types just get on the bandwagon and stop asking all these pesky questions? Geesh, she’s even wearing a red dress. How’s a candidate supposed to think when she’s wearing a dress like that?
What’s the difference in Rand Paul’s foreign policy and Obama’s?
I used to think term limits was a good idea but my position has evolved. Ted Kennedy would’ve never became the lion of the Senate with term limits. People build up experience and institutional knowledge over time. With term limits the real experience and institutional knowledge would stay with the senior aides and lobbyists as congress churned.
Besides, it’s not like President Paul could get it passed. It’s a gimmick like the balanced budget amendment.
Rand seems even less inclined to get involved in foreign wars than Obama. But I still think Obama is better at foreign policy, he has much more knowledge. But I’ll take Paul’s foreign policy over any Republican. He is very clear he does not want war with Iran, unlike all Repubs and in fact even Dem Chuck Schumer.
On term limits, fair point for sure. Kennedy, Byrd, these were men of integrity. On the other hand Chuck Schumer would be gone, and that’s fine by me.
How would you feel about term limits only for House Reps, not for Senators. The real nut jobs seem to be the House Reps. And they put on the “nut show” just to get re-elected.
Obviously the real answer is getting money out of elections. That would be the best solution. Not likely to happen anytime soon.
Rand has joined a long list of Republican presidential wannabes who feel that members of the news media should act as though they are working for the candidates’ public relations departments, only asking them the questions that they WANT to be asked.
