Discussion: Raising The Alarm: Ex-Econ Officials Say Trump Jobs Tweet Needs Investigation

And how many of the criminal bankers that caused the great recession were prosecuted?

And how many of the torturers and war criminals were prosecuted?

Laws are not enforced against wealthy and powerful people.

It’s going to get really fucking ugly when the Mueller indictments come down .
After skating so long without so much as a wrist slap do you think he will respect the law then?
Here comes your fascist state you’ve been hearing so much about
With Republicans sitting on their hands
It can happen here

Undoubtedly he leaked before he tweeted, maybe to Felix Sater.

This is the real damage from Trump’s administration that will be almost impossible to undo.

LOL, so which current republican lawmaker will hold him accountable?

This is a scandal a fair number people can likely understand. Especially if it turns out that someone linked to trump made trades. Reporters are going to have to push the SEC to find out if an investigation has been opened, which also means repeated questions for Mnuchin.

So many scandals, so little time.

I am tired of breathless proclamations that Trump has incurred a “potentially damaging flesh wound” when it then turns out to be a paper cut -

This will only get interesting when somebody is able to make him sweat - loose sleep - crap his pants

Right now, the only things that have come close to any of that - have been his self-inflicted blunders - it is like the only adversary shown to be able to lay a glove on him - is himself.

Why would Trump care about early release of the jobs data as long as he can take credit for something good happening in the stock market? He and his people conspired with the Russians and their facebook bots/trolls to steal the 2016 election and afterwards he’s done everything he can to obstruct justice by interfering with the Mueller investigation. He is “practicing” his pardon power so he’ll be ready and politically able to save Manafort, Don Jr, Kushner, and Hope Hicks if they stand firm. It’s time for Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to stand up to Trump if they want to save America from his dictatorship. Pence deserves condemnation too - he is enabling Trump while (I’m guessing) letting people know he’s ready/willing/able to step in if Trump is forced out. It will take an indictment of Trump - the GOP senators will never go along with impeachment even if the House does it in 2019. There must have been a lot more dark/Russian money spent on behalf of the GOP than we currently know about.

Yep, and you’re welcome to not read it.

Yes. And the damage will be widespread. Science belongs to no one. It doesn’t care about national or political party affiliation. If the US Goverment produces bogus data on, say, climatic forcings, it will become readily apparent when examined by the world wide peer review system. We live in the world, not just in America.

Well now we all know why he had Martha Stewart on his mind. His creaky brain cells must have been whirring round on the thought that, well, insider trading is just what the smart people do. No crime. Just smart.

@ralph_vonholst We live in the world, not just in America. Except Trump doesn’t.

Which is why I suggested a class-action lawsuit for this one.

Larry Summer certainly possesses the gift of understatement. He claims that if Obama did the same as Trump it would be a scandal with all the attendant investigations. I think not.

Obama wore a beige suit (sacre bleu, bleu, bleu!!) and right-wingers called a lynching. A fitting way to dispatch a black man. Oh wait!! Obama was also the Antichrist so they’d need the seven daggers of Tel Megiddo. Sigh . . .

Maybe there can be consequences. If he violated OMB rules, he can’t claim sovereign immunity for that. If he can’t claim sovereign immunity, he can be sued.
