Discussion: Radio Host: Religious Persecution Against Businesses Happening 'All Over The Country'

Discussion for article #228151

Persecutory delusions are a delusional condition in which the affected person believes they are being persecuted. Specifically, they have been defined as containing two central elements:[1]
1.The individual thinks that harm is occurring, or is going to occur.
2.The individual thinks that the perceived persecutor has the intention to cause harm.

According to the DSM-IV-TR, persecutory delusions are the most common form of delusions in schizophrenia, where the person believes “he or she is being tormented, followed, tricked, spied on, or ridiculed.”[2] In the DSM-IV-TR, persecutory delusions are the main feature of the persecutory type of delusional disorder.

Persecution? Really? I live in Hawai`i, and we not only have Christmas as an holiday, but Good Friday is a State Holiday. Funny, I don’t see the same legal recognition being given to Buddha’ s birthday, or Mohammed’s ascension, or … persecution? Yeah, right! What a total scumbag.

Yup. Happening all over the country. Nobody who wants to serve God can have a business. In fact I hear it’s a line on the Schedule C:
Check box A if you serve God
Check box B if you have a business
Do not check both boxes

Former Archbishop of Canterbury: Christians claiming ‘persecution’ should GROW UP

"Lord Williams said religious believers should be wary of complaining about their treatment in the Western world, with those claiming they are “persecuted” making him “very uneasy”.

"He added the level of “not being taken very seriously” or “being made fun of” in Britain and the United States is not comparable to the “murderous hostility” faced by others in different parts of the world.

Think I’ll go with the Archbish’s opinion over that of a radio host.

I think we can safely say he is exaggerating, just a tiny bit, don’t you think.

Amen to that. Just obey the anti-discrimination laws and bake the lesbians a fucking cake already. If you don’t approve of gay marriage don’t get gay-married. It’s nothing to make a big drama about, you whiners. And Todd Starnes is the cosmic expression of weeniehood.

This persecution is widespread and rampant, and it’s happening everywhere in America!!!

But I don’t have any specific examples of it to offer other than this one.

Lesbians demanding baked goods across the country?!?!?!
Why that can’t be true, a lesbian friend just gave us 4 Danish (2 cheese, 2 cherry) and a box of heavenly cream puffs for completely non political reasons.

Yeah, because most people refuse to stand for Todd Starnes’ Christo-fascist bullshit, he’s being persecuted.

You know what? Given we’re going to be accused of it, might as well actually do it and let them know what being persecuted really means. Let’s start treating these Jihadists for Jesus the same way they treat people of color and women and LGBT folks.

Yes, religious persecution is happening all across the country- if you’re Jewish, Atheist, Muslim, Pagan, Hindi, Buddhist, Shintoist or Sikh, but not if you’re Christian.

This is the very basis for the Bush/PNAC policy of preemptive war.

Toddle’s head on back to your closet, no one asked you to come out and say anything!

Yes, Todd, religious descrimination is happening all over the country–descrimination against Muslims being foremost and prominent, you jackass. This data is three years old, but still relevent:

Muslim Discrimination Cases Disproportionately High In U.S.

Thomas Perez, the assistant U.S. attorney general for civil rights, told the panel that anti-Muslim sentiment has brought a surge last May in the number of federal discrimination cases involving zoning boards and other local authorities that have acted to prevent mosques from opening in their communities.

That comes on top of more than 800 incidents of violence, vandalism and arson against people believed to be Muslim, Arab or South Asian, that the Justice Department has investigated since the September 11 attacks.

Perez said there has been a 150 percent jump in workplace discrimination against Muslims, often over religious dress and worship schedules, while Muslim youth can often become the victims of school yard bullying.

This TeaBilly is as honed in and zoned in on the mark as the crassest, most venal, lying-est carnival barker in the most decrepit carnival on the circuit.

Knowing that the mark (The Christian Right) is an extremely active and engaged voting segment.

Knowing that the mark (The Christian Right) is at least two continents and two centuries removed from anything remotely resembling receiving any “persecution”.

If anything, this type of American “religious” has been front and center in ADMINISTERING said “persecution”…

(black) church bombings, lynchings, Klan meetings, etc.
