I’d argue it can be read as more of a brag than an admonishment.
That is an absurdly good troll
And when Trump himself starts having journalists killed, he can take full responsibility for those murders.
I believe the correct word for Putin here is ‘Chutzpah.’ The US’s responsibility is to respond appropriately to the facts, as in imposing sanctions on Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Trumpf refused to join those strongly condemning the Russians poisoning defectors in the UK, and waffles to the point of absurdity here.
What Putin’s comment should tell Trumpf, but he won’t get it, is that Putin is a smart opportunist who will use any tactic to undercut the US and to advance Russian interests.
Putin being all holy and pure - it sure does bring a smile to my face.
Remember, in the region it is Iran/Russia vs. Saudia Arabia/ USA, and Turkey is becoming more friendly with Russia distancing itself from ally/NATO member the USA. This dynamic is at work in Putin’s assessment of the situation, his manuevering behind the scenes, and manipulation of the players to gain further Russian advantage over the USA, if it can be had.
I believe the correct word for Putin is mob-owned, apartment-bombing sociopath —but maybe that’s just me.
