Discussion for article #230001
post deleted, as I totally misread the article.
Heās just a puppet of a puppet of the regime.
Oh, no. Puppets are people, my friend.
Iām sorry, but this story is terribly written. So the singer (Hofmeyr) is trumpeting the virtues of Apartheid and the puppet is calling him out for it? And a court ruled against the puppet, stating that the calling out was hate speech?
WTF is up with courts in South Africa?
"The singer had tweeted to about 121,000 followers on Nov. 3 that the ruling African National Congress is victimizing white South Africans. In a related Facebook statement where he discussed the merits of segregation under apartheid, the singer wrote: āApartheid was cruel, unfortunate and unsustainable, but WHAT inspired that maddening segregationā
So in todayās South Africa to call this out as a racist attempt to blame the victim is not allowed.
Ah yes, the infamous āPuppets Unitedā case.
Not the ventriloquist. The singer he wants people to boycott is writing tweets that sound racist, that imply was a āreasonā for Apartheid.
Why, thank you for the correction. I totally misread the piece. Though in my defense I agree with rogu3ish above that itās crappily written.
