Discussion: Puerto Rico Upholds Demand For Statehood In Contentious Vote

If you were to poll Republican CongressCritters I am positive that the majority of them (and 95% of the Free-Dumb Caucus) would call Puerto Ricans in the US “Illegal Aliens” even though they are AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Also, Puerto Rico has a population of 3.74 Million. That is larger than 23 of the current states.

Sorry Puerto Rico, Republicans aren’t big on popular vote.

American citizens in name only. We would never treat a State the same way we treat Puerto Rico. Than again, Republicans would be happy to treat blue states the same as we treat Puerto Rico

If it doesn’t benefit the wealthiest Americans or gouge the average American quite hard enough, then this Congress isn’t about to do anything about it.

In the meantime, our Congress can sell off Puerto Rico’s assets on the cheap whilst leaving them with all the debt.

The Trounce administration, isolation run amok.

Actually they are full blown citizens with recognized dual status. Admitting them to the Union would be a catastrophically huge error though. And without a GOP leaning trade off it’s unlikely PR becomes a state as it’s perceived to be full of potential Democrats.

I’m fairly certain that everyone here knew that already.

Perhaps…but “in name only” does not fit that.

Low turnout because the opposition was supposedly boycotting the plebiscite.

Let them in already. They’ve bled and died over and over again for this country.

The Trump GOP Congress and Don the Con will undoubtedly welcome Puerto Rico as a state with welcome arms. After all, the Trump GOP has no hostility to Latinos. (sarc)

God damnit, you would think that after this last election people would start to get that that isn’t how voting works.
