It is interesting however to see the reaction that comes from liberals/dems when one of our own dares to do anything like this whereas when Repukes do it it is celebrated and the whole party gets behind them regardless. While I agree it’s not the smartest move, I must admit a part of me likes the visuals.
See my post a few minutes ago.
I’m not against some political theater, and I truly believe that there is a strong vein of racism running through the GOP. But this, and his previous plan to wear a chicken suit at Mary Burke’s campaign events, are not the actions of a serious candidate for the highest office in the state.
Agreed–only a liberal would have the sense of humor to do this.
Go home Brett Hulsey, you’re drunk.
Asshat. Proving stupidity isn’t the sole domain of Republicans.
Yes, it disrespects Cons and Klansmen. Which one are you?
When I left Wisconsin for Florida 22 years ago, I really thought that I had left a place of reasonable persons for a banana republic. I’m afraid now that Florida was nothing more than slightly ahead of Wisconsin on the crazy curve. Serious candidates have been scarred away due to unlimited super-pac involvement in politics, and so we are stuck with media-darling imbeciles, looking to be the next Joe the Plumber. Wisconsin, the place my ancestors homesteaded in the 1820’s, I cry for you.
Just a bit of background about Hulsey. He’s basically been kicked out of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin after years of terrible personal behavior and a less-than-stellar legislative record. He’s lost his seat in the next state legislature to another Democrat (with the party’s blessing) and has been repeatedly passed over for leadership positions in favor of younger, more professional, and less intoxicated rising stars.
Hulsey not only has a bone to pick with the Republicans here in Wisconsin, but he also seems eager to embarrass Democrats along the way, all while keeping himself in the headlines as much as possible.
The first red flag is the idea, the next is spelling… “party hates” ?
My advice to Rep. Hulsey would be to rethink handing out hoods and … don’t. A very bad idea.
Republicans are quite adept at digging their own holes in terms of pissing off people in so many demographic groups. They don’t need Hulsey’s help and if he does carry through with this plan all it does it look like he’s piling on.
No go on this extremely bad idea.
Oh, WRONG ANSWER, troll!
Try to contribute something not pulled out of a racist’s ass.
Don’t worry. The GOP won’t let him in the door, and nobody outside will be taking these hoods, which have all the appeal of a used condom.
I like it, and I’m not surprised to find the typically effete Democratic responses I’ve encountered here. It has the ring of truth to it, the fact that it offends conservatives is moot. Republicans pull stunts like this all the time to some effect while Dems are too busy being polite.
Fool.
Back then Democrat = conservative and Republican = enabler.
Liberals = had no voice.
Oh you want a history lesson? Cool. Here it is: the Democratic Party was the party of Jim Crow, very popular in the racist South. Then the Democratic Party took the lead in the civil rights movement, and racists bailed on the party and registered Republican, and that’s where we’re at now Opie.
Y’all be careful, now . . . last week Billy-Bob came back from the local Klavern with a bad case of creeping Kludd . . .
Though if you really wanted to be evil, get white condoms with an extended tip made, and hand them out as KKKondoms
Our very own Ted Cruz–happy to aggrandize himself at the expense of his own party.
There’s very little upside to this stunt, and far too many ways for it to backfire on the party. Seems like he would rather be a Daily Show corespondent then a serious candidate.
I notice no one is addressing the reprehensible, vile reasons that he is pulling this reprehensible, vile stunt.
Let’s just shoot the messenger and and continue to ignore the racist policies. See how polite and happy everyone is when we ignore things we don’t like to see?
