Discussion: Protest, Warnings Of Retribution At First Ferguson Council Since Shooting

Discussion for article #227490

This is how Ferguson and other communities are going to change. This is what some GOPers really fear. They aren’t afraid of rioting and civil unrest, they are afraid that people with real outrage (not the astroturf-type stuff we saw in 2009 Town Hall meetings when paid protesters were bussed in) will vote THEM out of power.

The mayor did get on television and say there was no racial divide in Ferguson. In addition, that came days into the unrest. The mayor and council seemed to be fine with the growing show of Police force that was threatening to lead to a bigger blow up. Also remember, one member of the Ferguson City Council was involved in beating a man held in the city jail. She would later file charges of destruction of property because he bled on her uniform. These are not the leaders Ferguson needs to change how the police interact with the community. They have enabled the police, and the only way to change the behavior is to start with the people that have the ability to hire and fire.
