It could be realâŚthatâs a bitch of a commute and I thank him for his service.
We need to watch for what happens next before we go full tin foil hat.
He might be coming back to Washington to head up the prosecution of those named in sealed indictments.
Superfically this looks like a real âhis work here is doneâ story.
But since his resume also includes
1991-2002 AUSA SDNY Prosecuted financial crime and 1993 WTC bombing
2002-2009 General Counsel Deutsche Bank
2009-2013 SEC
2013-2018 Kirkland & Ellis
it will be interesting to see where he lands
Are any of the rest of you getting nervous about the possibility that all these investigations are quietly being shut down? And that Mueller may report - that he didnât actually find much?
He will land in the money. Guaranteed, as he was a suck-up to Wall Street when he was ostensibly working for the public at the SEC.
I think that if Mueller wasnât finding anything the report would have already been issued.
The person replacing Khuzami is known as a tough prosecutor on organized crime matters so this isnât replacing Khuzami with a hack.
All the people indicted and/or going to jail might dispute the paucity of wrongdoing Mueller has uncovered.
Another Hillary-Loving Witch-Hunter Crawls Back to DC, Now That Rat Loser Cohen in Slammer. No Collusion! MAGA!
Yeah has anyone who has been the target of an investigation just walked away? I donât think so. Theyâve all been charged with something.
Scared me TPM. âSteps downâ isnât what you really mean.
âSteps downâ means they found porn on his work computer.
I think heâs found way, way too much, much to our detriment as a country.
I do worry that DT might skate with no legal consequences, based on a long history of such. But not in the context of this story. I suspect the Cohen case was especially grueling, so I donât blame anyone involved for needing a break for a while.
If SDNY and the NY AG reduce the Trump empire to a smoking hole in the ground, Iâm good.
PP will rue the day he was ever elected president.
The wise man is satisfied with enough.
It looks that way. And itâs clear that thatâs the reality. But weâve invested a lot in this idea of Mueller as the guy whoâs going to fix things, and I think thereâs a risk that he interprets his mandate much more narrowly.
And remember, most of the indictments and guilty pleas are for lying (relatively easy to prove) or unrelated charges. Nothing guarantees that this will translate into charges that go to the heart of the matter. And, while Iâm worrying, it still bothers me that Jared and Don Jr. havenât been indicted yet: itâs obvious theyâre vulnerable to a big round number of charges, butâŚnothing. Is that because they were never candidates for a deal, because they wouldnât flip?
Iâm the furthest thing from a lawyer, so Iâm probably confused on all of these points - in which case, Iâd be grateful for some reassuring hand-holding from a qualified commenter.
There have been some notable people weâre seemingly assured committed some sort of malfeasance that have yet to suffer the lash. Carter Page comes to mind right off. Jerome Corsi. Assange. K. T. McFarland. Flynnâs son. Tom Barrack. Doubtless the list of those still deserving of some measure of punishment is still quite long and unfulfilled.
Always a concern when the varsity bench thins out.
I donât know if Iâm qualified, but I believe Mueller is treating this more as a counterintelligence investigation, which requires different tactics than a criminal investigation. CI investigations often are dealt with outside the courts because the Agencies donât want to reveal tactics or share classified information with the general public. But, as Trump is President, this is uncharted waters and who knows how itâs going to be ultimately dealt with.
