If Trump is around more than the coming months, it won’t matter what “optics” with Dems will come to be discussed.
The man is a Wrecking Crew. And it’s not really him. He is the figurehead. but his enablers keep him propped up.
Far too much of our time (including that of Yours Truly) is spent making statements about Trump himself and not going into the composition and dynamics of all of his enablers.

There is no doubt that Northampton has shot himself several times with this disaster. First the yearbook photo has been there for years. Second his admission that he was in the picture seemingly without looking at it. Third reversing his admission and admitting to a different episode all have rightly lead to demands for his resignation.
It must also be said that anyone, (that is you Republicans and other Trumpets) who demands Northam’s resignation without denouncing Trump are nothing more than hypocrites. This hypocritical behavior requires them to resign from any position of honor, profit or trust that they might hold.

But I think we do need to get some clear ground-rules about what’s in/out as far as when to force resignations. Step 1 should be to take a breath, wait a reasonable length of time to establish facts before breathlessly calling for someone’s head.
I was impressed that Kaine and Warner waited until Northam had had his say before they called for him to step down. That seems like the minimum requirement.

This is a ratfuck which is pretty much perfect. They leaked a minor unimportant photo from 35 years ago. The ratfuck played directly into the clear stupidity and cluelessness of Dems, where ANY sin involving race is a total trump sin: It overcomes all other issues. DemoBorg dummies, who cannot see beyond the ends of their noses, immediately got into a Purity Lunacy tissy. “Off with his head” “he said a naughty word 30 years ago, so he must die”.
Democrats have become to the Party of Stupid. In the Dem view, your entire life of accomplishment, success, leadership is less important than one photo taken 35 years ago.
This is why I no longer can be a Dem. I am not stupid enough to swallow this kind of purity bullshit. I consider the whole of a person. Martin Luther King was a great man, who was well known to have a prodigious sexual appetite and who engaged in many affairs. In today’s world, he would have been destroyed by some Dem loser. Pablo Picasso went thru women like Kleenex. In the Dem Party, his towering accomplishments as an artist would mean nothing if he offended some woman 30 years ago. It’s beyond stupid to becoming pathologically contemptible.
Of course, there are Dem STARS who have … issues. Kirsten Gillibrand was a pimp for tobacco companies, and went FAR beyond the “only following orders” level. She was a leader in the continued ability of tobacco companies to evade responsibility. Today, Dems love her. Kamala Harris KNOWINGLY and DELIBERATELY kept multiple persons in jail despite CLEAR indications of innocence. But since she is a black woman, she gets a pass.
