Discussion for article #229327
I can’t stand Portman but good on him for calling Todd to task. That was a BS comment. However, PORTMAN fails by pretending that if the Senate goes Republican that with the House they will get EVERYTHING done! Really? Where were you during the first six years of the aughts when you owned all three branches? Oh yeah…working for Bush.
In Chuck’s defense, he’s an idiot.
Sadly, I noticed some in the media seem to be pushing that line as well. They seem to think Democrats are blocking everything and not even remembering the times GOP has blocked procedures or shut down government. They haven’t been willing to work with Pres. Obama before, what makes people actually believe they would be willing to now. And the idea that Obama would just approve what they pass and they would not need a veto proof majority in the Senate is fucking laughable.
Here is what will happen if GOP goes Senate - hearings into everything from Fast and Furious to ISIS and whatever else in between, they will still talk about sueing the president, they will start with the impeachment threats and they will try to repeal ObamaCare. In the meantime, NOTHING will get done - no jobs bills, no unemployment benefits, food stamps will be cut but the military will be bloated with money. And, yeah, you can believe we will start hearing the loud beat of war being drummed.
The only thing that was holding these assholes at bay was the Harry Reid heading the Senate and without that, they will be like kids running wild and free in the candy store.
Yup, and his comment wasn’t “sloppy”, he’d been practicing saying that for at least a full day.
Chuck many of us knew what you were and now no matter how you try you have dug this hole all on your own,no fan of David Gregory but he must be ROTFLHAO at you.
Glad to hear Chunk isn’t going to live that one down. What a joke.
Someone should ask Old Turtle if he voted for Bush.
When he decides to participate in a Facebook Q & A, and people ask him about his irresponsible comments, Todd derides them as little people who ought to know their place.
I guess it takes a GOP senator to coax a non-asshole response out of him. So, for once, I’m glad to see a GOP senator booked on Press the Meat.
Can you believe MSNBC hired Todd to turn around MTP. Appears he’s drowning them instead. What did they expect? He’s a D.C. insider and not particularly bright!
Of course he did. He’s a gop/bag hack!!
Why else would he be on MTP??
Only gop/bag hacks need apply!!
No! NOT MSNBC!!
MTP (a/k/a, meet the gop/bag talking heads), is on NBC!!
BTW,stick a fork in Chuck IMHO he is done.
He would say yes. Voting for Bush instant a negative in Kentucky. Furthermore, it isn’t the fact she voted for Obama, because everyone knows she did, but she was going around state claiming she disagreed with virtually every single policy the President has promoted for the last six years. So finally someone asked, if you oppose the President so much who did you vote for in 2008 and 2012? Of course it is a stupid question, but if you can’t answer a question that everyone knows the answer truthfully, then how can you be trusted to answer difficult questions.
Chuck Todd has disqualified himself from being an objective journalist by attempting to decide elections in favor of Republicans.
“No, but I think Mitch is going to win in Kentucky. By the way, you’re the one that he said that she had disqualified herself, her opponent, by saying that she wouldn’t tell people whether she voted for President Obama or not,” Portman responded, referring to Grimes.
" you’re the one that he said that she said that she had disqualified herself, …"???
So Portman is saying that Todd said that McConnell said that Grimes disqualified herself by not revealing her voting record, or something like that? I don’t think Portman knows exactly what he meant to say because for life of me, I can’t figure out what the hell he is saying.
Veto is the very persuasive compromising cudgel should (if) the senate goes red.
Hey Chuck, that is a huge crow that will be served up one bite at a time for the remainder of your career, get used to it and buy a LARGE bottle of Sriracha Sauce, your going to need it.
Chuck Todd is a total goober. To paraphrase Krugman, he’s a bad journalist’s idea of what a good journalist sounds like.
He is referring to the ad McConnell promptly put up with Todd yelling that she disqualified herself. Its not a very smooth way of saying it, but I get what he was trying to convey.
“By the way, you’re the one (its you in the ad, brainiac) that he (McConnell) said (put out an ad) that she had disqualified herself.”
The “her opponent” makes no sense and is basically a brain fart or words forcing themselves out, as near as I can tell.
Personally, I think the only thing Chuckie regrets about that, is that he didn’t get paid by the McConnell campaign for using him in the ad. That is basically why it said it was cheap. He didn’t mean that it was a childish stunt…he meant that they were cheap because he didn’t get compensated.
Not as much as we would like to believe. The GOP has already hinted that they intend to tie the things they want to get passed to the budget process and force Obama to either sign their legislation or face a shut down.
If the Senate were to go red, the more interesting fly in the ointment will be how they interact with the nuts in the House. So far, they have been protected from much of the really insane stuff by Reid not even considering those bills. That goes away if McConnell were leader. And the TP doesn’t carry much weight in the Senate by comparison. Sure, they have Ted Cruz, but nobody else in the Senate, very much including GOP leadership, likes the guy. So he can’t get anything done.
