Among other things, this likely means that he didn’t feel safe airing any of his, uh, concerns about the regime with fellow or superior members of the clergy. One of the reasons he’s still alive.

Yeah, this is “Pope an Argentinian, bear shits in woods” kind of revelation.
No, I’m very glad they featured this. It says a lot about Francis that he was able not only to hold genuine dialogue of this sort, but was able to put himself in the role of a patient/student of a woman of another faith background. I think that has no small bearing on the kind of pope he is today.

Hopefully he’s getting good work done on staffing, in a manner to influence the future direction of the church. I know next to nothing about the church hierarchy, but I believe he has at least some power to do that.
