Discussion: Pope: Evolution, Big Bang Theory Don't Contradict Creation

This will not be news to anyone who knows anything about the Catholic doctrines.
It will also be confirmation to the Baptist Lunatics and Born-Again Fundamentalist morons that the “PAPISTS” are not to be trusted and are all part of the giant hidden conspiracy against the one true faith: Ignorance.

Remember, the KKK was founded not to “keep blacks in their place” (that came later) but to oppose “PAPIST RULE” in America.

When I was an earnest, young papist we were all taught that God invented Evolution. Now I think that Evolution invented God.

The Pope also hinted that Bang Bang Shrimp does not contradict the concept of a Poo Poo Platter…

That’s a big thimble!

The Far Right is quoting Benedict today in retaliation on the subject even though he quit just like Palin when faced with his inability to handle the job.

The Christian Coalition is now officially dead…and so is the Republican Party as we go further into the 21st Century. Catholics are finding their way back from Satan and Karl Rove.

Most evangelicals are are plastered like the Palins most of the time. They’ve lost faith in God, the Bush Dynasty and themselves.

I am not Catholic, but I am right there with you on your opinion of this Pope.

Plus, he was a bouncer once upon a time. I still get a kick out of thinking there are people wandering around that can say, “Dude, I got kicked out of a bar by the Pope!”

Maybe you just experienced that G.K. Chesterton “twitch upon the string”.

You sound as if that’s a bad thing.

Many of the ultra rights believe popes are the anti-Christ, so I’m guessing this latest declaration won’t broaden many of their minds.

Catholics have had a respect for science for hundreds of years.

If I remember correctly it is viewed as something which uncovers God’s work.

I appreciate the Pope addressing these issues, but you are right that he isn’t likely to broaden their perspectives.

There is a distinct advantage to having lived a “real life” before entering the priesthood. Those who experienced the real world have an open-mindedness and understanding of human priorities and concerns that the old timers who entered the seminary as youths simply cannot.

And so on and so forth

Um, Why a god?

Because God?..errr.

Wait, do you mean that this isn’t news?

“God is not a divine being”

Talk about burying the lead!

Science the physical, religion the metaphysical. Been saying it for years.

No, the Christian Coalition is now the Tea Party after the GOP realized how much it needed to rebrand itself after the Dubya lost years. They’re Dubya’s voting base, the low informationists who turn out for every GOP primary and are responsible for picking all those cerebral winners they’ve given us the last decade or so.

But does “creation” explain creation or just make a bold declarative statement saying that god created all and that’s that?
Who created God, Grandpa God? And what the hell is the big secret? How come every single God is a mystery? They aren’t parting any seas lately or feeding the populace with a single loaf of bread, that part would be really helpful BTW.

The idea that faith is the ultimate test is a sucker’s game. It keeps the frightened and weak in line and gives the masses something to argue about.

Imagine no religion, I wonder if you can, no hell below us, a brotherhood of man.
It’s easy if you try.
John Lennon.

They are the same, chicken 'n egg, down to the WORD bang.

I would argue with some of it. If he means some form of life was created than maybe, but it is not necessarily needed. I do not usual see a conflict unless things are taken literally.
