This all makes perfect sense if you start from the assumption that US military took over all basic foreign policy decisions in the 2017 coup. Remember “the adults” are in charge and the only way they get to stay in charge is to create an international “emergency” that requires the unquestioned full might of US military securing the military’s right to exist independent of what’s good for the economy. This and the slow creep of militarization within US borders (in the name of protect said borders) should have us in a full military run government standing behind our clown prince for the foreseeable future.

Does the Secretary of State have the authority to negate a treaty or does it require congress?
