In Iran deal making is high art and has been for thousands of years in any market. If anyone knows how to negotiate a deal, they do. I saw this personally when buying a rug in the Tehran market in 1970. It required tea and dickering…and time. I am pretty sure the Iranians see trump as we do.
I’ve been wondering about that. Iran is an ally of Russia right? And the one consistency in the Traitor Tots foreign policy has been doing whatever Putin wants. I didn’t think having your puppet regime attack your ally was the point of either puppets or allies.
So what’s Putin’s objective here? To swoop in and keep the peace like in Venezuela, thereby proving to Iran what a good friend he is to have?
I’m definitely worried about one of Donnie’s minions accidentally hitting a wrong button or forgetting to relay the “not really” message in time, but other than that my current theory is that this is all another example of Donnie Dumkoff constantly escalating the distractions as the heat gets hotter and hotter in the kitchen. In any sane world, he would have been impeached already (for the child deaths at the border alone) but he keeps wagging the dog again and again. Some people love it, the rest of us are appalled but he just keeps ahead of the power curve, and will until he doesn’t. I do wait patiently for “the tape” that will save us all. Barring that, I will personally drive anyone in Orange, San Bernardino or Los Angeles Counties to the polls who can’t get there themselves to make this happen.
Another possible angle is that Trump serves more than one master. Iran is chummy with Russia, but the House of Saud and Bibi both salivate over the idea of the US instigating holy war with the Shi’a Iranian regime. While Putin is his primary, Trump’s insatiable avarice make him a pushover for the others to put ideas into his head (and it doesn’t hurt that he’s surrounded himself (allowed himself to be surrounded?) with Christian Dominionists who would just as happily see a holy war started).
