Discussion: Poll: Trump's Approval Down By Double Digits Among GOPers Since 100th Day

It’s depressing to think that more than about 10% would approve of him. He’s completely nuts and one of the worst leaders/managers at any level of government.

After witnessing what’s going on in WH, it’s not surprising that almost every business he ever started went bankrupt.

Donnie’s going for the golf score approach to popularity. Low numbers win!

It is hard to imagine why anyone would approve of the job that Trump is doing: he hasn’t kept campaign promises, he’s failed at just about everything he’s tried, his regime is in chaos, and he already has a special counsel looking into his affairs. The only notable feature of Trump’s presidency has been that it has failed in under 1000 days.

This is the only approval numbers that matter. Until Trump’s numbers become toxic for elected GOPers, they will continue to carry his water and defend him. Once republican support crosses a threshold (which will vary by district or state) that put their own re-election chances at risk (and that means less than a third of the Senate this coming cycle) nothing will change.

Makes perfect sense, considering that the Orange Abomination “won” with about 3 Million fewer votes than the “loser”.

Seventy-two percent of Republican respondents to the poll approved of Trump’s job performance…

WTF? The guy hasn’t done anything. The man has signed no significant legislation. He’s spent nearly every weekend golfing. He’s under investigation for all manner of crimes.

If 72% of Republicans approve of his job performance, I can only assume that they’ve been in a coma, or they live in the sticks where no one has yet heard of an invention called television.

Once upon a time, politicians who followed the polls were criticized for not being leaders. Now a majority of citizens want the ACA to remain in place but it means nothing. Trump, McConnell, Ryan will do what they want.

I honestly no longer think we can have intelligent conversations with the other side anymore. The fact that 70 plus percent of republicans support destroying this country tells me they are lost. #SAD #PATHETIC

Buried the lede. For reasons unfathomable to ordinary human beings, 72% of Republicans still support Donald Trump.

It’s only because he is Their president. And we hate him - which gives them tingles.

Who are the 9% of Democrats still approving of Don the Con? Are they so addled by opiods they haven’t paid any attention since January 20?

What they’re saying is that they think he’s an acceptable leader of their tribe. Not of the nation, necessarily. Just of their tribe. Many (most?) GOPers feel they have to be loyal to their tribe, not to their nation.

These new polls are outliers, seeing as Rasmussen finds that Trump is the most popular President in the history of the republic.

Well that’s a good trick - turning the most unpopular president in history into the most popular.

I get that, but the question asked of them is effectively this one:

“How good a job is the President doing at being an acceptable leader of your tribe?”

I just don’t see that he’s done anything that justifies a positive response to that.

That’s the point of being in a tribe. It doesn’t have to make sense - it’s all feelings.

Y’all really expect all of his supporters to decide they made a mistake because we think so? Yeah that worked for them with us and Obama.

And of course Obama was objectively a good president and Trump is terrible but he’s still their terrible president.

Only about 26% of American voters self-identify as Republicans.

74% of Republicans approve of Trump’s presidency.

So that means that less than 60 million people—out of more than 310 million----are gullible enough to support the idiot.

Thanks, Obama!
