Discussion: Poll: Rubio Leads Dem Opponents In Florida Senate Race

The guy who hates being in the Senate.

Republicans don’t really believe in meritocracy. Reward is not based on achievement. For Republicans, reward is just their version of welfare.

So the Floridians love them some dehydrated Marcobot. What on earth could those voters be thinking? Does Marco have “special” talents we don’t know about? What can this idiot possibly offer?

Rubio is another Republican slacker, taker and lazy do nothing infantile politician. IOW: Perfect GOP politician!

Why in the world would you hire someone who tells you up front he hates the job and doesn’t plan on showing up for work?
This is the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting different results, good job Floridians!

Wait. How is there not a Democratic candidate yet?

So if there’s an anyone-but-Trump, contested GOP convention, will Rubio accept a call to be the GOP nominee for President and once again lay down his Senatorial duties?

I think their primary is in August.

As for the poll, perhaps with the ads against him showing how lazy and flip floppy he is the numbers will change.

Other than that, I am pretty shocked that someone who has said he hates his job would be given an opportunity to not do shit for another 6 years. It is astounding.

But then, it’s Florida, so…

I wouldn’t worry much about this race just yet. Rubio is a high profile Senator who recently ran for president. He was one of the last three (Kasich never really counted) standing in the Republican primary. And he was one of the few to come after Trump the hardest. Murphy and Grayson are congressman and probably don’t have anything close to the profiles that Rubio does. Rubio is probably a huge beneficiary of name recognition at this point. So, while this poll looks good on it’s face, it may be awfully deceiving.

He that never shows up for work (all the while collecting his tax funded pay and benefits), he that says he hates being a senator, out performs the dems running for that senate seat?!?!

Voters in Florida really are stupid!

In a New York second!

Thanks to a tawdry primary campaign, Rubio’s got a long “demo reel” for his Dem opponents to use–and it’s all free.

Yeah, this is mostly about name recognition and no real campaign yet for the race.

Once the Dem primary is over, that’s a couple of months of “Marco loves Florida and the Senate so much he stopped showing up when he ran for president, but still got paid for not doing his job.”

Absolutely nothing!

He hates being a senator. He never shows up for work. But let’s give him six more years of guaranteed salary and benefits, to do nothing, you know, just because…sigh

And the PPP poll had Murphy beating Rubio by a point. Why do single poll results ever get headlines when we know that they tell us so little?

Its name recognition at this point, more than anything. Rubio was just involved in a national presidential debate, and even since then, has had his name included in more evening news broadcasts and cable news shows than either Grayson or Murphy.

That being said, 7-8 points is nothing to sneeze at. And sadly, most of the competition is melting away from him in the GOP primary. Its going to be a tough race.

I wouldn’t find too much comfort in those numbers if I was Rubio. This is a Presidential year. Trump is at the top of the ticket. Both of his opponents are good campaigners.

The media, including TPM, is working hard to create a narrative. In this case, the Washington insider class wants Rubio to win. He is the future of the Republican establishment.
