Discussion: Poll: Only One In Five Want Obamacare Repeal Without Replace

From stuff I’ve heard around the office, the people/trump supporters in favor of repealing ACA don’t care because they’re not on it. To them, the repeal will have no impact because we have insurance coverage through our company, duh! :confounded:

I swear, I’m just going to put Forest Gump on loop…Stupid is as Stupid does

The Repubs don’t have a plan, they only hate Obama’s accomplishments.

I’d put that in the “fuck you I’ve got mine” category not the stupid one. Most of the hard core Conservatives I know have a tendency to that kind of thinking. It has a politer form in “take personal responsibility” which seems a bit like being politically correct.

This is the absolute truth. Here in Mesa Mormon land, ignorance regarding the ACA is profound, even among people who are activiely taking advantage of it. It is beyond sad what partisanship has done to Americans’ ability to think.

Coincidentally, my wife’s sister lives in Mesa, AZ. A favorite Obamacare memory of mine is hearing her in a drunken rant going on about how much Obama and Obamacare (specifically) are screwing her family over, and how she couldn’t believe what she was paying monthly for little prescription coverage and high co-pays. This, of course, was sometime in 2009 or early 2010 before the ACA had even passed. To this day I don’t think her knowledge on the subject is much better, but I know all the hatred towards it are still there. No surprise she’s a huge Trump supporter.

Good thoughts on improving ACA.

But one in five is a HUGH win!

Republicans can hold the House and the Senate if they replace Obamacare with a single payer system under Medicare for all.

Are they smart enough to make America healthy again? Or is Trump going to make America sick again?

Only one in five Americans may be interested in seeing the ACA gone, but as long as that 20% includes Congressional Republicans, it’s going to go.

The other 80% be damned.

On my Twitter feed last night, someone posted an article from POLITICO. Apparently, the head of the nurses union, RoseAnn DeMoro, thinks Rump is gonna enact single payer. Uh huh

She sounds like a real piece of work, full on feral trumper. I would encourage you to read the article and spread it around if possible. THIS is the sort of entrenched delusion we’re up against.

THE REPUBLICANS HAVE A HEALTH CARE PLAN! It’s what we had before Obamacare:

Insurance rates increasing at a steeper rate than they are now under Obamacare. The uninsured waiting until they were half-dead before presenting to emergency rooms for hospital stays, with costs that were tacked onto the bills of those lucky enough to have insurance. Big Pharma, Big Hospitals and Big Insurance getting their way on everything. Higher costs with worse outcomes compared to the rest of the world. People going bankrupt after a single major illness. People with even minor pre-existing conditions unable to qualify for insurance.

Yeah, that’s the Republican plan. It’s what we had before Obamacare.

At least one, my husband. (At any reasonable definition of rich, although I might be skewed by time spent in genuinely poor countries and other such things.) I’d bet there are many, such as Kerry, the Kennedys, and all the other rich white men who support the Democratic Party. Not to mention the significant number of middle class white men who support it, and even the WWC men who voted for Trump but hope it doesn’t get repealed. Most of them thought there was a better replacement, since that’s what the GOP says daily.

Turn on the GOP, not the voters. Gotta rebuild the coalition of Americans who believe in democracy.

The blessing in this Republican-made crisis is that many who live in the right-wing media bubble are actually having to consider the specifics of Obamacare instead of simply reacting to the negative generalized portrayals of Obamacare painted by the right-wing media misinformation machine.

That is actually very true, it is a “I’m safe so Fuck everyone else” mentality. Of course they never realize that at any moment they can be NOT safe…especially since there’s a huge potential that we’ll end up being bought very soon.

Well as you can imagine… I’ve been thinking less of her through this whole cycle.

Have you seen her twitter account by the way? Quite something. One example below. Yeah he knows, right.

3:00AM is for Twittering, haven’t you heard?

Too bad, you broke it, you bought it. This is what happens when you treat an election as a Valentine instead of a chess move.

Wait…What? AMERICANS are positive about a program that helps millions of their fellow citizens stay healthy and financially viable…FUCK 'EM…we will repeal and send innocent people without power back to the dark ages for no apparent reason.

lol… I gave up that account when it started to get weaponized, which was almost immediately, but thanks for the advice…
