Obama’s legacy has changed. He will not longer be remembered as the first black president, or for the ACA. He will be remembered as the $2.00 a gallon gas president, even though he had nothing to do with it. LOL!
Too late for this. Obama’s current popularity is a totally meaningless number. The GOP took the Senate and extended their hold on the House. When Jeb Bush wins the White House in 2016, look for Social Security to be turned over to Wall Street and Medicare to be turned over to private insurers. If Obama had demonized the GOP during his first term instead of attempting to work with these creeps, Social Security and Medicare would continue to be available for future Americans.
Well the chatter about folks not voting is never going to end. And they aren’t ever going to vote. The Democrats have boxed themselves into a dependence on a constituency that doesn’t bother to vote. This translates to the Democrats being fucked. And they are.
Great!. Now if you can get the folks that approve to vote you have something. I’m not going to hold my breath.
I know the theory is that the improving economy is helping the President’s numbers - and it certainly does help - but I think it’s his increasing willingness to take the fight directly to the GOP on more issues now. He’s never going to get the right-wing haters, but a lot of people were also disappointed by the White House’s willingness in the past to just roll over on so many issues. And I really hope the WH is paying attention to this on the GOP’s latest plan to cut Social Security benefits. They better fight that bullshit with everything they have.
I hope there are meetings going on in the WH right now to make Mitch McConnell a one-term majority leader (to coin a phrase).
“Obama Approval Rises…”
And the right wing howwwwls in disgust. Bwahaha…
Few years back Californians kicked out Gray Davis because he raised the price of car registrations.
They elected Schwarzendorker.
Voters are dumb as rocks.
What a steaming pantload.
In the latest polling on the subject, Hillary Clinton beat Jeb Bush by double digits.
There is no reason to believe that will change substantially.
Since you’ve just joined up here—less than 45 minutes ago—it’s clear that you’re not familiar with what’s going on.
Well, and also because Enron and Duke Power, among others, were deliberately ratfucking the state’s semi-deregulated electricity markets for fun and profit.
I really hate that that sounds just about right.
You expected something different. But I agree it is depressing. Having said that, his approval rating with me has been 99% since 2008
Yes. Five years of job and economic growth is directly attributable to the GOP wins a little over 2 months ago.
Thanks GOTP … where would we be without you?
Sincerely, think of where - aka how much further along in growth and progress - we would be without you.
Chammy, you may be the only person on the planet that loves our president more than I do …
That’s if you believe those same people who think there is a correlation between the President and gas prices were even paying attention to his not fighting with the GOP. Most folks are not like those of us here who pay attention to politics on a daily basis.
I think you are correct. It is impossible for anyone to love him as much as I do. LOL But I like the company
President Obama’s legacy will be even better.
Not entirely true - those folks do vote, just not at midterms, not usually. It makes no sense to assert that a political party which does in fact have considerable power got that way by relying on a constituency that never has voted in an election.
Interestingly, the President got a bounce from Mittens’ 2016 presidential candidate announcement.
Oh, I’m sure they are not down in the weeds closely following policy fights or the back and forth between the parties, but there has to be some subconscious realization seeping in that the WH is being more aggressive lately, even if they only hear the background noise of a TV newscast or glance at a headline in a newspaper. That has become a narrative on the newscasts, and will likely be mentioned as part of the coverage of the State of the Union address.
I think this is right, and I hope the Podesta White House keeps it up! And I would add two points: (1) that there was always a pretty big slice of the “disapprove” number that were Obama voters who were disappointed that he wasn’t being tough enough, but who would never vote for a Republican opponent; and (2) these new Post numbers, as well as the new Gallup numbers, are not really “new”, because the Rasmussen daily tracking poll has had Obama kissing 50% for some time. So maybe for some “unexplained” reason the other polls have just discovered Obama support that Rasmussen would say has been there all along…
