Discussion: Police: Student Wearing Hijab Allegedly Attacked By Man Wearing 'Trump' Hat

Well golly gee, imagine that.

Interesting conversation yesterday:

A Muslim woman I work with said her husband had considered voting for Trump until she dissuaded him. She also confided that some of the men at her church did vote for him because he was “tough.”

I could shoot a Muslim on Fifth Avenue and my ratings wouldn’t go down.

If her account is validated then put these two mofos in stocks right across from tRump Tower for the next three months in addition to prison time afterwards.

Send a signal that this kind of shit is not going to be tolerated

There have been hundreds of these kinds of incidents in the last 24 hours.

Our very concerned and responsible news sources are obviously working double time to expose them, I’m sure, and not at all normalizing by tacitly approve of such things…

It is accepted policy by U.S. airlines that flight attendants can demand anyone that makes them feel “uncomfortable” be removed from a plane. The internet is rife with stories of Muslim U.S. citizens being escorted off planes for “infractions” ranging from asking to switch seats, asking for food or drink during long tarmac delays, questioning why certain people are permitted to do a whole range of things before or during a flight (go to bathroom, get in stowed luggage, listen to music or read), while they are not, etc. Even speaking some non-English language with a seatmate can get you escorted off a plane, and into the arms of air marshalls and local police that will proceed to grill you as if you’re the 20th conspirator from 9/11.
This is only going to get worse. If U.S. citizens have to put up with this imagine what visitors, refugees or those making connecting flights to elsewhere will have to endure. This nation sucks balls. Fuck all you 60 million people that put Trump in the White House. Really. Just fuck you.

There’s dozens more, just like the above.

I wish there was some way I could help these women. I don’t live near very many Muslim women, though. I’m not sure what I’d do. Escort them in public? Put your hands on them and you can catch mine, as far as I’m concerned.

Thank you deplorables.

The usual GOP excuse to follow shortly:

“Well, if she hadn’t been provocatively dressed, this never would’ve happened to her!”

That’s a real shocker.

He IS tough in a way. He has incredible tenacity----but only when it comes to preserving his image and promoting his interests. His frenzied campaigning in the last few days was really something.
I’m afraid that people who voted for him because he is “tough” have rocks for brains.

A colleague of mine who is a bit swarthy was doing a postdoc in Norway when the right wing won control of the government. He said that afterwards it became much more uncomfortable for him to live there.

When a President-elect empowers bullys and thugs, this is the result. NPR did a bit a while back about the rampant bullying of Muslim kids in the Los Angeles schools that skyrocketed with Trump. Parents were forced to keep their kids home from school when it became evident that some teachers and administrators were part of the bully contingent. Anyone who does not fear for the direction of this nation is not paying attention.
