"Three cars at a Burtonsville, Maryland home were vandalized with what appeared to be anti-Donald Trump graffiti Wednesday morning, The Washington Post reported.
The Montgomery County Police Department said in a statement they were responded to the home at 6:25 a.m. on a call of vandalism. There, police found three cars spray painted with the words “Trump” and “racist” as well as a swastika."
I think a lot of Trump supporters will be offended by the characterization of this graffiti as “anti-Donald Trump.”
This doesn’t help.
No, but somebody probably really enjoyed it and felt good for a moment. Sometimes, you have to enjoy life’s little moments.
Waste of perfectly good spray paint.
The Left in America would be much better off going to gun classes, getting their permits, and starting to intimidate the same idiots on the Reich-wing who do the same.
Much better to stand up to the bullies than roll over.
"… based on their initial investigation, that the homeowner’s political affiliation was well known without the need for signs being posted.”
So it was a local loudmouthed asshole whose, as Sprockets’ Dieter would say, “conversation has grown tiresome”?
Definitely the wrong way to go around it regardless.
Misleading. I’m pretty sure the swastika was painted on there not as an anti-semitic gesture but to call the targets Nazis.
“detectives believe, based on their initial investigation, that the homeowner’s political affiliation was well known without the need for signs being posted,”
How much you want to bet the part they’re not telling you is that last week, the police had to respond to a domestic disturbance in which the owner was out front of his house drunk waving his confederate flag and screaming racist pro-Trump nonsense? Burtonsville is right outside the Beltway area. Places like that or Annapolis are where you find alot of MD’s Trump supporters or people who are angry Redskins don’t-change-the-name fans because they refuse to root for a “n----r’s team” like the Baltimore Ravens.
I bet it was actually done by some pro-Trump guy. I think that’s what you call a false swastika operation.
This is the place where I worked for the past 4 months on the election. And no, it was not some random debris from the road…the road is over 40 yards away.
The “Trump” signs and the offensive anti-Obama, anti-Clinton signs are only disappearing this week in my neighborhood. Gotta give this guy credit for taking down his signs post-election, eh?
Yeah. Neither did those two big black guys who grabbed that poor little white girl and scratched a backward “B” on her face with a key in 2008 before using her makeup to draw a fake black eye onto her.
yeah, I’m torn. the angel on my one shoulder says this doesn’t help…the devil on the other says “if the shoe fits…”
I’m not exactly impartial. I despise the air the Orange Rapist wastes in his lungs.
I used to live near Burtonsville; my mother still lives there. It’s a combination of mostly older WWC, some younger Americans (all races), and fair number of immigrants.
Not so incidentally, there’s a good Ethiopian restaurant, a good Afghani restaurant and a new (as of last week) Ethiopian food store (all on Old Columbia Pike, just west of Rt 29). (There’s a Cuban restaurant, too, but that’s not so good.)
When did that happen?
It didn’t.
It sucks the life out of the snark when you force me to explain it.
You’re not suggesting that Trumpists pulled this stunt, I hope.
I’m suggesting there’s no evidence of who did it one way or the other and thus no reason to believe they didn’t. You think there are no Trumpzis who wouldn’t try to counter all the coverage of the cascade of hate crimes by making up some bothersiderism MSM bait? Because, what, their commitment to truth and objective reality are so strong? Because their obsession with the concept of “false flag” operations has no connection to their penchant for projection?
Just suggesting that people shouldn’t leap to conclusions in cases of witness-free vandalism.
So you don’t know either way, and you know you don’t know either way, so you simply choose to believe that whoever you hate did the thing. Even though that’s precisely the opposite of what it looks like. In fact, precisely because of that. Don’t you see a sort of congruity between your process and the rightists’ process?
This comes up every time TPM reports sloppy anti-Trump graffiti. It seems to be beyond some people that not every left-leaning person is a paragon of civility, tact and lawfulness. There are millions of people out there just as angry as us, for just the same reasons, who are more likely to lash out than you or I, i.e. young people.
I accept the remote possibility of the “flase flag” scenario, but for some TPMers it seems to be the default assumption – and that’s for precisely the same reasons that conspiracy theory and paranoia run rampant on the right. It’s bad mental hygiene at best and at worst, it’s a form of hypocrisy.
Your righteousness is noted.
