Discussion: Police Release Video Of Cop Fatally Shooting 12-Year-Old Cleveland Boy

It’s not like this video shows a damn thing anyway.

Good points.

There was plenty of time to have approached from a distance since there were no others near the then suspect.

This is like the recent Ohio Walmart shooting where the kid started to say it was just a BB gun as the cop blew him away.

That’s the point!
A little common sense and logic and you get the picture. It only happens to dark skinned people not lighter complected people.
Something needs to change, this type of injustice is unsustainable just as kidnapping and selling people became unsustainable during the 1860’s.
Confused MisterNeutron, that’s the point even if you feel it doesn’t concern you so YOU don’t care. Nobody’s confused about that part of YOUR selfish equation!!

From what I’ve read elesewhere the airpistol the kid had … looked like a real gun. Also the orange thing on the end of the barrel indicating it wasn’t a real gun had been removed. But that is not meant to absolve the police at all. from what I can tell from a very poor video it looks like the police took zero time to ascertain what was going on. They shot first and worried afterward. That’s what it looks like from the video.

Forget about Ebola. The real epidemic in this country is unarmed black kids being killed by cops.

But maybe the boy looked like a demon? Then it would be OK.

In truth, I did not watch this video, as I don’t need to put the image of this horrific event in my brain.

So, because some 12 YO can be trouble we should pre-emptively assume the worst and blow 'em all away at the slightlest suspicion a la “Shoot first ask questions later”?

I bet you’d feel differently if that was your kid or family member or skin color wasn’t the standard used for whom was being blown away with prejudice. Human beings are hypocrites by nature, this is the reason authority figures cannot be trusted to be fair and objective on their own merit. There needs to be oversight because the bad apples’ actions are too final to tolerate such.

Video released by Cleveland police on Wednesday shows that officers shot a 12-year-old boy in a park on Saturday “one-and-a-half to two seconds” after police drove into the park and confronted the child, deputy chief Edward Tomba said.

Meaning that the video is low frame rate, but real-time. It is not, as you suggested, time-lapse.

As far as I can tell from the video it looks like the police drove right up to the kid and shot before they got out of the car. Which is not a safe way for them to approach this situation at all. As you point out the car could have been a shield had they parked some distance away from the kid. I think the time between frames is only two to three seconds. I looked at this several times and the cops backed away from the kid AFTER he was shot, not before. Certainly they didn’t approach this with any clear thinking.

Auto-play is a form of terrorism, as defined by the Geneva Convention, you should sue.

It’s not time lapse.

Ebola is still very real in West Africa. Here it was used to sow fear in the run up to the election.

Trigger happy cretins. This country is so effed up.

The police have provided a time line. 1.5 to 2 seconds. That’s precisely what we see in the video.

As for time-lapse, it generally means that a video is speeded-up. This is not. Otherwise, by your definition, standard 30-frame-per second video would be “time-lapse.”

Sure, if they know they’re dealing with a fake gun…and an easy target.
