Discussion: Police: Pot Might Be Factor In Montana Student Killing

Discussion for article #222544

It’s well-known that Marijuana turns users into homicidal maniacs. It was thoroghly documented in Reefer Madness.

TPM, are you sure that’s the correct photo?

Pot might have been a “factor”? As in he wouldn’t have committed premeditated murder if he hadn’t been high? Or was it that he premeditated because he was high? I’m guessing neither.

Of course, most gangsters like to get high, so that must be why they’re shooting each other, too. Keep fightin’ that war on drugs, it’s going great guns (as it were).

Right, because so many murders were committed by people high on pot. SURE.

Kaarma’s attorney, Paul Ryan, did not immediately return calls for comment in response to the allegations.

Diren Dede sounds like a Turkish name. Lots of Turks in Germany.

The better link to pot might be that the shooter was concerned about pot thieves, but that’s less a connection to “pot” than it is to the fact that pot in Montana is illegal and, thus, driven to an underground, black market economy.

Paul Ryan Defends Drug Murderer!

Isn’t it bad enough they were killing any potential intruder with their second hand smoke? They had to shoot a gun too?

The only drug he’ll test positive for after 3 days is cannabis, so it’ll get the blame. Foolishness on the part of the authorities.

Or he was pissed because his pot had been stolen and that’s why he set up the trap. Also too, good or bad, the fact that he used a gun while impaired makes his Castle defense a lot more difficult to prove. Your rant, really isn’t relevent in this case.

The whole point here is that the guy is trying to defend himself by saying he was in fear for his life and that’s why he shot blindly into the dark. Being drunk or stoned makes that defense less likely to succeed. If “blaming” pot is what it takes to make sure this dude goes to jail for killing that kid, so be it. Also, the fact that he was probably pissed off about losing his weed more than anything else makes him less sympathic as a defendant. Finally, this is going to make all his NRA buddies back away very quickly, no NRA lawyer for him. All thanks to a little green bud. I’d say that’s a good thing.

It’s the same with alcohol, impairs your judgement. Why do you stoners get so defensive?

Agreed. Which is why if there is say an auto accident and pot is found in the car, it is not intellectually honest to include that in ‘accidents where marijuana was an influence’ statistic.

Just a note regarding the testing for alcohol and pot: Alcohol is eliminated at a rate of about 0.01 percent by volume per hour, and so a level of 0.1% would be undetectable after 10 hours. Marijuana is detectable at least three days later, and for heavy users, it can be detected a month later. So this delayed testing may show no alcohol but detect pot. This in no way means that pot was responsible for his murderous behavior.

Of course not. The effects of marijuana are nothing like that of alcohol, which is a powerful neurotoxin.
