Discussion: Police Officer Kills 18-Year-Old Man Accused Of Fatally Shooting Georgia Cop

In other black news. My son was just up from Mexico. He said he was at one of the pyramids with a black friend that had come down to visit and they saw another black person there and my son’s friend and that person did the Wakanda salute. Pretty damn funny!

So were these perps the advanced edge of the caravan? If not how do we explain the criminal lawlessness of their behavior?

I would venture that this one falls under the “Judge, Jury and Executioner” legal provision in the PBA constitution…

According to the Police…

I don’t believe anything the police say when it comes to a black man being gunned down.

From what I understand, these perps orchestrated the entire caravan on direct orders from HRC.

I noticed that the US Marshals managed to arrest a living suspect, even after police reported that the suspect had a gun and had previously pointed it at an officer.

Maynard had an “edged weapon” in his hand, the chief said.

Garden trowel?

Pretty sad that the credibility of police officers has reached a point where it is not only reasonable, but sound to question the “official” account of an arrest where a suspect was killed by officers. An officer was just shot and killed in cold blood, an event which once would have led me only to sympathize with his loved ones and colleagues, and to appreciate the danger that officers face on our behalf. Now, I assume that some portion of those officers will seek bloody revenge and wont give a shit about bypassing the judicial system altogether.

And of course he’s right. This officer will get a medal. Maybe this 18 year old was a menace and the world is better without him. It’s possible, but I am long removed from the belief we leave that decision to the police. Other than SWAT they shouldn’t be trusted with lethal force.

On the face of it, the shooting appears to have been justified (if you rely on what the police have said about it). The trouble is that police around the country have so often been shown to lie about things like this that it’s hard to have confidence that the police report is an accurate reporting of what happened.

Like almost every AP story ever written, I feel like I missed something. One officer fired a stun gun while the other shot him dead? He had an “edged” weapon? I am sorry, but this just smells like compost.

Season 3 of Serial (another podcast recommendation - I know) goes into depth about some of these very issues and the rigged game of justice for poor POC in Cleveland. Interesting stuff if you have a strong stomach.
