How embarrassing for the majority of LEOs who do not brutalize arrestees.
Now I suppose we’ll see endless numbers of Fox bobbleheads defending police brutality and sagely nodding as they post montages of menacing-looking people of color, reinforcing the worst prejudices of the basest Americans.
So a few police depts. push back. That’s nothing. That audience cheered at Trumps called for brutality. That is frightening! And chilling to think top advisers at WH are writing these speeches.
Yep. He was clearly referring to those “others”, on the backs of whom he has fomented fear and hatred with his base.
The sad part is, should those “others” protect themselves, thinking Philandro Castile, as a for-instance, his base will just be convinced that 45 was right.
I am not so sure it is safe for a POC in this country after this. Seems like open season, no?
Insane Clown Posse issued a statement Saturday afternoon disowning Trump as a member of the jester community, adding, “When they juggalo, we juggle high.”
What was also awful is when those Suffolk county officers cheered when he said he wanted to repeal the ACA.
These are folks who average around $100k per year after 5 years of service with a full benefit package. A county that has some of the highest property taxes in the country but really good services and schools. Many of them might fail to realize that the ACA actually strengthened their health plans. Maybe they hit their noggins when they got in the squad car.
Another example of their rank hypocrisy: for years we’ve been told to toughen up and stop whining when one of them said something vile. We were regaled with rants on the evils of political correctnes. Turns out, after all this time, that they were the whiny wimps, too terrified to realize that giving others a piece of the pie wouldn’t hurt them. And the proof of this is in their continued, unwavering support of the most whiny, cowardly man in world.
Besides the obvious savagery of his statements about treatment of suspects, I have two points:
He mentioned the Healthcare issue and his burning desire to remove healthcare from millions of Americans in front of a group that already has publicly funded healthcare. Most officers were stonefaced when he made this boorish comment but I saw a couple that seemed to think it was humorous.
A man said this who, within the next few years, will most likely be a suspect in custody himself. Might not be for Federal charges but State charges are a good bet.
I am pretty sure these are Dominican sisters smiling and hoping to be able to deny birth control to people employed by them. Who might they be? Well, they are the mendicant order in charge of my south suburban Chicago high school, so any lay teachers or other staff in the school–and more than half the teaching staff was lay teachers 35 years ago, so it is likely an even larger percentage–are big losers under Trump.
This is such crap. Trump gets a forum (the bully pulpit so to speak) to spew his hatred and his crap. ‘Later’ the police, the Boy Scouts, whoever come out and say ‘Oh that’s not US. We don’t condone THAT.’ and nobody hears that. The haters take Donnie’s hate as a green light and go out and spew. It’s BS.
I watched most of that speech, and honestly what surprised me most is how subdued the crowd was. Nothing like a regular peepee campaign speech (he can’t give any other kind, apparently).
It may be that the volume of the crowd noise was turned down, but I really noticed that at several points where a regular (if you can call it that) crowd would be cheering wildly, there was nothing other than scattered applause. Peepee has this way of trying out different lines and using the response to gauge his next mad-lib so as to pump up the response. That didn’t seem to be working so well in this campaign speech.
Maybe just my perception, but he really seemed to be struggling to get a campaign-style response from these folks.
I’ve always thought the lack of a ‘leader’ (or leaders) was what doomed the Occupy movement.
I understand the logic behind it, but it just didn’t work…unfortunately.
The military rally, the Boy Scout rally, and the cop rally happening in the same week wasn’t a coicidece. The fat orange man wants us to know that he can rally angry white boys with guns to do whatever he wants whenever he wants it. Given how each set of angry white boys with guns cheered, I’m honestly not sure what will happen the next time we go to the polls and Kurtzweil - I mean Trump - doesn’t like the results.
