Discussion: Plane Makes Impromptu Landing After Fight Over Seat Recline

ESPECIALLY when I am in the middle seat, I am 240 pounds and 6 fott one and without the recliner I am very uncomfortable.

Your post says a lot more about you, you self entitled asshole. Where do you get the right to tell someone they can’t recline the seat that they paid for? If you don’t like the seat arrangements, buy first class or don’t fly.

I am not saying be inconsiderate about it - of course look back and give the person behind you time to adjust or move their stuff, and if it’s a"large" person, take that into consideration.

But no… ā€œoffice workā€ doesn’t take preference over my comfort - why should I be subsidizing your employment?
Save your laptop antics for the airport or at the office, or fly first class if you are that damn important.

I’d say you prove my point.

You may very well be considerate. But I think you also know exactly the kind of passengers I’m talking about, and I think you probably also know it’s not just a case of a few bad apples. And by the way, I don’t say what I say because I want to work on my laptop. That’s got nothing to do with anything I’ve had to say. It’s just astonishing to me how little sense people have that they’re not in their own living rooms and how free they feel to take their own comfort at someone’s else’s expense. As if reclining an extra inch or two makes any difference anyway.

Yes, it actually makes an enormous difference if you want to sleep.

The 1% win again.

They are in First Class or private jets, so they don’t have to put up with any of what the commenters here are complaining about. Furthermore, they own the stock that is rising in value as the airlines stuff more rows into planes and find creative ways to extract more revenue from passengers without providing any additional value.

And then, they get to enjoy watching us fight each other and snarl at the poorly paid flight attendants as we absorb the downside of higher airline profits.

P.S. : Don’t want a seat reclining in front of you, and don’t want to pay for a non-economy seat? Learn how to get a seat in an exit row, assuming the airline would judge you appropriate for such rows.
