Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooter Pleads Not Guilty To 19 New Charges
Agree, push charges to the Nazi sites operators instead.
Fair trial today.
Hang him in the morning.
Amen. Glad there’s a rational, dispassionate process that gets followed. Not for his sake—for as much good as there is in him, you might as well cut his throat and throw him in a pit. But for us, we need to know that at least in some key situations we try not to judge or punish lightly.
Robert Bowers, a truck driver who authorities say gunned down 11 people at Tree of Life Synagogue, appeared in federal court with his new lawyer, prominent death penalty litigator Judy Clarke.
How does a truck driver afford a “prominent” death penalty litigator?
Who is paying her for her services? The NRA? The Trump Foundation?
Enquiring minds want to know…
Could be pro bono. Not too many mainstream groups would step up for this one.
Agreed, but why would she even choose to take it on pro bono? Publicity? Or Sympathy?
Publicity, absolutely. Priceless.
- it is what she does - and taking cases like this sustains her identity
curious as to the exact incentive in Pennsylvania - a state with the death penalty - but where there is a Governor imposed moratorium on the death penalty
have to wonder which element becomes her priority - taking the most expeditious path to getting her client a non-death outcome … or navigating a potentially more risky route to a precedent setting - larger scope - death penalty impacting conclusion.
Irrelevant. Even those accused of the most heinous crimes are entitled to competent counsel. That is the way our system is designed (nay, mandated) to work. Trying to deny anyone counsel by intimidating potential counselors makes a mockery of the system.
Even Trump is entitled to competent counsel if he’d just bother to hire some.
Not questioning the right to counsel at all.
Just curious as to the factors that led the litigator to take on the case.
And I wouldn’t mind Donnie needing the services of a bad death penalty litigator, if Rudy’s not around.
